On the lack of official diagnosis

I've realized it doesn't matter what I'm diagnosed with and whether or not my therapist believes BPD may be an issue for me (yet to be seen, so who knows).

Only because--whether or not I meet the criteria for that diagnosis--learning about the disorder and using resources available online for those suffering from it, I've been able to see myself more clearly than ever...

For the first time in my life I feel like I know what to look out for in my interpersonal relationships, and I know where I go wrong even if it takes me some time to realize it.

Of course knowing is half the battle which is why I am desperately hanging on for that next therapy appointment.

What I'm saying is, it's a good start to recovery even if I'm barely coping.

I dont think we should just focus on the diagnosis too much its only a diagnosis.
I think focussing on the now, and learning new skills to help us manage and live a better life.

I definitely agree ! x I feel like I understand myself more and what changes I need to make to move forward on a positive path, and that's the goal at the end of it all

I agree.

The purpose of diagnosis is the identification of solutions.

An access to an adequate therapist should not be wasted, but for those who struggle with finding one self-help is better than doing nothing.

However, as useful as managing the symptoms may be, in order for deeper healing to take place we should go deeper, beyond the surface, to uncover the core reason of our symptoms and the condition itself. Working through this is much easier with a good therapist. And though no professional is infallible they're less likely to misdiagnose us than we are.

Good luck on your healing journey!
