I’m brand new to this whole thing. I’m well acquainted with other mental troubles, but not with this.

I hurt myself today. For the first time. I’m not going to tell you how, or with what, but I did hurt myself. Nothing life threatening.

I feel so weird because I don’t feel like I’m disturbed enough. I’ve had daydreams and thoughts for a long time. It’s not until today that I started actually trying it and I know I shouldn’t keep this to myself.

So now I’m reaching out because I know it’s the smart thing to do.

Reaching out is a good first step to getting better.
Sorry that you felt you had to hurt yourself, you're not alone with those thoughts, most people with depression do get them, but you can learn to control them.
If you haven't already, make an appointment with your doctor and be totally honest. Depression is a legitimate medical illness and you deserve to be heard and treated.
Keep posting, this is a place where anyone with mental illness can reach out and get the support they deserve.
