Hi everybody, just found the forum and need advice on my situation. Its a long story so ill try and cut it down as much as i can. My problem/s started when i was 17 i was healthy good job good pay, no health problems when over one weekend i started with severe skin problems, boils, rashes, spots and sores on my scalp. I was told it was dermatitas folliculitus and a number of other conditions which they couldnt get rid off/ treat with any of the meds i was given, which convinced me more they were guessing. Anyway docs conclusion after 2yrs scalp folliclitus acne lol? and delusory parasitosis? Ive recently discovered ive had/got hepatitas A, some time in the past. I remember being yellow eye skin when all my probs started so im sure this was when i picked it up, i was also very ill with fever etc, had blackouts/fits which without tests were instantly diagnosed as Postural hypotension? The 2 years leading upto my label of delusional i was diagnosed with the following diagnosisis? - infected excema, impetigo, multiple boils? skin subcutanous infections, scalp folliculitus, acne, scabies, seboric dermatitis, staphylococcus, also started with probs in mouth lumps diagnosed as gingivitus, which i still have today. Also found out i have H.P.V std, and chlyamidia. The chlyamidia i now know i got when i was 17 also. Its taken ten years for my skin probs to clear but i still suffer daily with itchy hive/lumps. Now im convinced my itchy body rash etc is viral in nature, im not concerned about having a viral infection but am concerned as my symptoms are active daily. I need to know wot plpe here think about me being told i have an irrational belief of being infected after suffering with so many infections and still ten years later, getting hives daily with no diagnosis. If i do have a herpes type virus aswell as hpv do you think its fair or right that this label was given to me, i still have yellowing of eyes urine, alcohol makes me very ill, which i dont drink much of n e way. I believe my liver could be dodgy too, but cant get my gp to take me seriously apart from offer antiphycotics? Sorry for gibberin on lol, ill end it here any advice please?

Curious...

Ok - let's get this right - you have had a variety of physical symptoms since you were 17?

If these symptoms are real and tangible it sounds a little odd that your GP has suggested that you are delusional.

I wonder if he feels you have somatization? I'm not a doctor - but I know that some psychological issues can manifest themselves in a physical way.

Wikipedia has a reasonable description of the condition.

Cheers

Chris

I ran an internet search on your condition 'mouth lumps', as I like finding out about things, was it diagnosed by a Doctor? Can you be more specific?

newbie in need.

Yes the lumps in my mouth were diagnosed by a gp when iwas 17, im in hospital next week as i now have a quite large wart at the back of my tongue on one side. I showed this wart to my present gp and she said there were no abnormalities at all? which got me angry so i went to a proffesional/dentist, who said hed never seen anything like it. I have numerous lumps pea size in the base of mouth under tongue which are smooth i also have a couple in my neck. So the dentist referred me urgently to see a oral specialist. As i said earlier im pretty sure now after much reasearch that my probs are likely to be all of a viral nature, and my sypmtoms are active all the time as i have an undiagnosed underlying problem with either my liver or kidney, im not a doctor so i could be wrong. Oh to settle the confusion about why ive been labelled delusional is because when problems first started i was without a doubt 100%, passing it on to others at work i left thru embarrasement and the fact i felt hideous, covered in rashes spots and boils. Months later, this is after numerous trips to my gp telling him i was passing this on to others and being told it was highly unlikely. I got a new job as my symptoms were a little less severe, i knew by this time i was infectious but had to work as doc didnt believe me i knew i was right so i knew i would pass it on again as it hadnt been treated. So into new job, this is not my paranoia or imagination, within 3 days i knew there were pple complaining to each other about rashes and spots unexpected breakouts of spots and rashes that they had just started to get. The day after 2 health and safety officers came in across the shopfloor straight up to me with a clipboard looking all serious and passed me a questionairre asking if i suffered from any of the symptoms on the list. I read it quickly embarrased as this was in front of many ppl and signed it saying i didnt suffer with any probs on the list. At this time i wasnt aware my doctor thought i was delusional or i would of prooved him wrong there and then and i wouldnt still be complaining suffering with same probs after 10 years. This is one instance of hundreds that ive had over the years, im now a recluse and dont socialise much, as i know i have a viral skin infection of some sort. Anyway thanks for replies. Im writing a letter before i go to hospital next week to explain my situation, i wish it was delusional disorder, if i wasnt sure id be happily taking the meds now. Taking antiphycotics to try to stop me believing im not infectious is crazy it wont help my symptoms and wont stop me passing it onto others. So i now have to get a new job again but this time i will make sure i get confirmation to prove this diagnosis wrong. Thanks. I only found out 12 months ago that the delusional parasitosis was on my records after applying for them. I f id have known this years ago i would of had numerous times where i could of proved my sanity if u like, Im really angry as i lost the best paid job ive ever had becos of this cock up id still be ther now at 29 with money and no debts like i have now. Im angry as all ive ever been diagnosed with is really, infections? so to be called a liar for ten yrs and still not have a diagnosis and traetment to stop my hives rashes, which my gp says is an allergy? even thou ive never been offered a patch test or any allergy tests? Im angry so angry that ive even considered taking the meds/antiphycotics and giving up. I really need advice guys and girls, thanks for your replies.:)

I just want to add i have seen a phychiatrist a few months back, to see was he made of it and he agrees with the gp? i asked for an assesment and got a long chat no testing of anykind? Its because of one gp at the start dissmissing my claims without any real testing apart from a swab test which result said, UNLIKELY to be a pathogen? and a cople of blood tests. The rest of the docs ive seen havnt questioned his diagnosis and thats why im still suffering today. I dont even think the shrink saw my medical records and yet he says there are no findings lol? apart from numerous infections such as the ones i listed earlier. Im to angry to go and see another gp so i go to the hospital they have been taking me seriously thankfully. Ive read all about delusional disorder etc, and to me, as i am extremely laid back and easy going they have taken away my personality saying im paranoid, but it hurts most to be told events that i know have taken place in reality, have really only happened in my mind, being called a liar is worse than being called paranoi. I socialise well with pple when im working, i never get paranoid just a bit stressed when i have an outbreak of hives on my face,if i could stop my symptoms now i would drop all the threats about solicitors i have made etc, i just want my lfe back. I aint a revenge kinda person but ive lost 10 yrs of socialising thru this problem. Oh i have absolutely no phobias wotsoever love animals reptiles spiders etc, did suffer with agoraphobia when my symptoms were at there worst as i just didnt want to be seen outdoors. Any ideas which way i shud turn fr help??

On reading this it sounds very similar to the problems my sister has. For years it was implied she was a hypochondriac and an attenion seeker.

She suffers severe skin problems, eye infections mouth ulcers and various other symptoms and it took them 20 years to diagnose Bechets syndrome. Very few doctors know about about it and she now sees a specialist and her gp has read up on her problems. People still find it difficult to see her as anything but a hypochondriac as some days and even months she is fine then she is covered in ulcers and several other problems.

I am not saying at all that this is your problem and it does need to be discussed with a professional before it could be diagnosed.

I need to know wether i shud seek legal advice or not, as going back to a gp isnt an option whilst im so angry. If i dont get answers soon from somewhere then im worried my anger and not sleeping will induce a real phycotic experience or breakdown. Has anyone any reccomendations for solicitors in the manchester area? As i cant take much more. thanks.

Hi Juk,

I can't help with any of the legal stuff or the meds etc but I'm glad you are being refered to an oral specialist cos your symptoms sound pretty serious.

I must make it very clear that I am no expert on your oral problems but just want to mention that from what I read on-line that HPV can manifest as white cauliflower type lesions in the mouth and if you say that you think you contracted HPV at 17 and these lumps started when you were 17 could there be a link there?

Not a diagnosis, just some info you may not have considered, from my research on-line.

Ok, so today i went to the oral specialist with my wart/growth on back of tongue. Ive had a doctor a few years back tell me it needed a biopsy, recently my gp said it was normal pappillae, so i registered with a dentist who said hed never seen anything like it and refered me urgently to the specialist. Off to the hospital i went, the specialist looked and wot do you know apparently its normal and so are the lumps in my base of mouth? Im confused as if it was normal papillae why has 1 doctor said it needs a biopsy? then the dentist says hes never seen it before? Surely if it was normal everyone has the same? My girlfriend doesnt have it, my sister says shes never seen it before, im angry again, i said id seen pics of sqamous cell carcinoma of the base of tongue and it does look similar, he said it was normal and nothing to worry about? Unfortunately i got angry and left he said there was no need for a biopsy? Any ideas wot i should do? He said as i was leaving if u want a biopsy ill do one for you but i told him to stick it lol. Again im angry and i cant face another doctor as i will end up on an assault charge lol. If i dont laugh ill cry, if i dont get a diagnosis for my problems soon, then i think i will become mentally ill as a result of my anger. Wot do u pple think?

If a biopsy in being offered then have it because thats what you asked for.Take someone with you to advocate on your behalf.
Suggestions only

didnt the dentist write an order for the biopsy himself?
id go back to the specialist and raise holy hell till he did the biopsy, and make sure he gets them read by a third party. or go to another specialist. if one possibility is cancer, then its worth the trouble.

He said there was absolutely no need for one, he only agreed to a biopsy after i got up to walk out, why should i stay for a biiopsy when hed already made his diagnosis and was 100% it was accurate, hed better hope his quick diagnosis is right i know that much.
