Hi everyone,
Just joined this forum and basically, sh*t scared. Have been on ESA for 3 weeks and have to go to Atos Medical in 3 weeks, and I KNOW I will fail. I have been suffering from depression for 20 years due to not feeling safe, ever, especially around men. I have had to give up my job. I attended an Atos Medical 2 years ago and failed, so I went back to work (I was still employed then). I don't want to sound like a psycho but I was only able to go back to work because I bought a knife from my local Tescos and put it in my stationery receptable, where I kept my pens and pencils, pretending it was a letter opener. FYI, never hurt anyone in my life, just needed it as a psychological comforter, if you know what I mean. Atos don't give a sh*t about depression, it's not a real illness to them, so I am screwed. Anyone got any advice? Much appreciated, thanks everyone.

Depression is such a unique experience and yet those who don't suffer it don't appreciate it enough.....until it happens to them.

Couldn't have put it better myself SimonB; I'm astounded that in this day and age depression sufferers are still stigmatised and discriminated against as much as they are. Thanks for the welcome, lovely to hear from you.

Just to help yo if you were putting a knife in your staitonary thing and felt that bad peopel might hurt you then if there is not that genuine threat then maybe thats an isseu to be dealt with. Don't be frightened but it coudl be some kind of paranoia and you can get help with that espcailly if it stems from bad past experieces which I won't ask about. If you genuinely in an envirnmewnt where you needed taht kind if protection then issues for company there and police. It may not be paranoia but I had really bad paranoia after smoking way to much and way to strong canabis and althogh my symtoms were different (I was not afraid of pychical harm) it can be horrible. I woudl say speak to comeone about that but don;t want to get yo uintrouble with work if as you say you are no threat to anyone and its just there for comfort dr shoud pick that up and hopefully get you help so you can stop being afriad poeple will hurt you. Must be horrible to feel like that.
