Hi everyone. I found this sight after doing a Google search on intrusive thoughts. Some of the threads that I’ve read have been incredible as far as the support and understanding that had been offered, and I’m hoping that I might be able to share some of my thoughts/troubles here without feeling so much shame. I’m struggling very badly right now, I’m actually trying to push myself to walk out the door for work, so I think I’ll start a break thread to discuss the issues I’m having. I really hope to be able to make some friends here.

Welcome to the forum! I deal with intrusive thoughts on a pretty regular basis. Last October/November they were so bad that I was considering killing myself because of how much pain they caused me. My doctors prescribed me a new medication at that time called Quetiapine; brand name Seroquel. After a couple of weeks of taking it I noticed that a lot of my intrusive thoughts and intrusive negative voices went away.

The main thing to remember is that intrusive thoughts do not define who you are as a person. Everyone, even healthy people, have the occasional intrusive thought, but that doesn’t make them bad or anything. If your intrusive thoughts are overwhelming you I would suggest seeking medical care sooner rather than later. Medication and therapy can really help alleviate some of these thoughts but it can take some time.

I hope you’ll continue to post here about your intrusive thoughts and your progress to keep us in the loop as we all are here to help each other.

I wish you well and hope you find some relief very soon.
