This is my first post on this forum. I'm a late 50's man with anxiety issues that keep getting worse since I was first diagnosed 15 years ago. I've tried many forms of treatment but none have been effective. I've tried a few different antidepressants in the past, but they always end up making me very hyper/nervous/twitchy. I was finally referred to a psychiatrist a couple of weeks ago and he prescribed Trintellix at 5mg/day. I took this dosage for 8 days. Last night, I woke up sweating profusely and my heart beating really fast. When I got out of bed my muscles were stiff and sore, I was also feeling disoriented. I'm a diabetic, so my fist thought was low blood sugar. When I checked, my sugar level was fine. The symptoms lasted most of the night and I'm still feeling out of sorts today. Anyone else have these types of side effects from Trintellix?

hi Powerhaus

I think you need to phone a doctor and ask for help with that

Thanks for the welcomes and advice. I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow to discuss these side effects and see if it's safe to continue with this drug.

Hi Powerhaus. I was started on 5mg Trintellix a few weeks ago, now up to 10mg. The Psychiatrist that started me on them did warn me of side effects like these, but fortunately I just had some night sweats and some upset tummies. Good you are talking to your Dr tomorrow - let us know how it goes. I also responded to other antidepressants in the past as you have described, but the Psychiatrist seemed confident that this one would be different now I am on A mood stabiliser. Not sure if that makes the difference. I hope you feel better soon.

I spoke to the doctor today and he recommended that I try Trintellix again, but take it in the morning instead of after dinner. I'm hoping this will work for me.

Just as an update, I went back on 5mg of Trintellix, taking it in the morning this time. After 2 days, I was feeling light headed and dizzy. I checked my blood sugar and it was fine, so I dug out my blood pressure meter and I was the 165/95 with a pulse of 97 BPM. It was Friday night and I had a very stressful week, so I put it down to that. The next day I woke up and took my blood pressure, which read 127/84 with a pulse of 67 BPM. Still a bit high from my normal readings but within reason. I took my 5mg of Trintellix and proceeded with my normal routine. About 3 hours later I had a sudden episode of violent diarrhea. Then while I was driving that afternoon, I started feeling bad/tired/confused and had a pain in my left arm. When I got home, my blood pressure was 167/95 and my pulse was 95BPM. My blood pressure meter also indicated I had an irregular heart beat. Thankfully, as I rested, my blood pressure started to drop and by bedtime several hours later my blood pressure was down to 134/82 with a pulse of 75 BPM. I stopped taking the Trintellix and on Sunday, I still felt unwell, but my blood pressure/pulse was within normal range. Now today, Monday, I woke up and my blood pressure was 112/95 with a pulse of 62 BPM which is where I'm normally at. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share in case anyone else tries this drug. Make sure to monitor your blood pressure and pulse!

Glad you are ok now, Powerhaus. My blood pressure has come right down in the last 3 months, which could be stopping work, the medication, who knows.
