Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I literally found it last night through desperation. I'd like to share my story if that's ok with the hope of other's being able to relate to it.
I'm living with what I'm guessing is real life OCD and responsibility OCD, I fear that some of my actions may hurt others and I'll be blamed. I've really struggled for about 4 years, and currently take Sertraline 100mgs.

The biggest fear is regarding the job i do as i do drawings for steelwork buildings. I obsess about potential mistakes i could've made in years gone by that they could lead to problems with the buildings or people getting hurt. Even from projects 8 years ago, i go back and check them over and raise concerns with them even if they aren't my responsibility.
The measures that i have gone to to relieve the worry are unbelievable. I have probably lost some good friends/colleagues due to my obsession with checking, reassurance and finger pointing. I've even been to solicitors and had documents signed (indemnities etc) by the contractors that i used to work for to remove any liability from myself. I've escalated my work to charted engineers to check my work 8 years later and fortunately (touch wood) has come back ok. There have been mistakes over the years but with the help of the engineers calculations these have been proven to work ok and aren't issues. Even after all this, all i focus on is the fact that i could hurt somebody and i might be blamed for these mistakes and then catastrophise the consequences.
Anyone else had problems like this? From what i have read and the therapist has said it's typical OCD to want things checked and reassurance seeking?
I'm struggling to eat and enjoy my life it's really got a hold on me.
Thanks for reading my story. I would love to hear some feedback from you folks.

Hope everyone is ok.
M.

I'm so sorry.
That worrying and checking is awful and debilitating.
Your therapist is correct but have you let him know
how severe things are for you? There is help.
I know you do awesome work!
