New Here - If only I were new to Depression

So new Here - just seeing what it is all about

Introduction to me
First Self-Harmed at 7
Never got Help until I was 21
Felt like I was ignored and soon Hit Crisis and removed from Uni on Medical Grounds
Discharged from the NHS Mental Health Team at 22 after coming out
My psychiatrist quote 'Your Gay, that was your problem'
Unsurprisingly My depression came back
Diagnosed my General Genetic Depressive Disorder
And Advised I would never be 'Happy'
In fact I can honestly say I have never felt happy
Life is just an obstacle to overcome
Sorry I ramble on
15 years and 3 'crisis' later
The new NHS Mental Health Team has now discharged me
Because 'I have Autism (Newly Diagnosed) and that is my problem'
So starting to get sick of the NHS palm you off to someone else approach

So started looking for answers
Found an Autistic Forum and they don't seem to understand me either
So thought I would try a Depression Forum

Hi StillDepressed welcome to the forum

That was a horrible thing your psychiatrist said. What an incosiderate prejudiced moron. He shouldn't have a license. One of my therapists also told me that I would "never be happy", luckily I got a second opinion and I advice you do the same. I would also consider reporting your other psychiatrist, such bigotry don't belong anywhere espescially in the field of mental health. I hope you can find some help here on the forum there are plenty of friendly and supportive people here. Take care and best wishes.
