New here for 2021

Hello everyone,
I’ve had anxiety my entire life and have, for the most part, just learned to live with it (and I’m on the older side so I’ve been living with anxiety for ages). I’ve decided, in 2021, for the first time, to try an SSRI to help manage it. But, I literally don’t understand which one works best for anxiety? Is it Paxil? Lexipro? Celexa? Prozac? I don’t have depression, just pretty severe anxiety so I’d like the one that works best for that. No matter how much I research, I just can’t figure out, in real life, which works best.
Any votes for the most effective one?

although you will need to feed back to them
how its going and if there are any side effects

Yes. The thing is. I’ve, casually, spoken to a couple of doctors and psychiatrists about this, over the years. Each one has a preference but can’t really define the reason for their preference. One thought lexipro worked best, another Zoloft, yet another, Paxil. It seems that there is really no medical basis for one being more advantageous to another. That’s why I thought I’d check in with real
life people that actually have taken them to see which worked best to control their anxiety.

when someone else swore by it

can you just decide which doctor you trust the most /

In my experience they will start with one probably preferred because they see the most results with it. They will adjust you doses, and if it not working they will switch you to something different. It actually all depend on your body and how it reacts. I actually just had a genetics test done so they can see what my body chemistry might work best with. It not an full proof, here's you magic pill, but it will tell you your body reacts best with these so let's try them. Sometimes the first thing you try might work great, sometimes not.

Yeah. I guess that’s what I’ll have to do. It’s just frustrating because when you look at their mechanisms of action in the brain, they are so very very similar. Yet, somehow, they seem to be more or less effective depending on who knows what. I just want to avoid the whole trial and error process (gives me anxiety, ironically and, there’s a shocker ) but, I guess that process is inevitable.

Trial and error is a frustrating process. Ive been on and off medicine for years. Im having the test done now because my insurance finally covers it.
