Needing encouragement...

At the moment I am 6 months into therapy with a specialist personality disorder unit, and I am feeling worse than ever.
I just found out my friend is very ill, and may not be around much longer. Because she lives so far away I will probably never see her again. I'm also really stressed out at home because we have neighbors building a hotel (!) illegally next door to us and the planning department won't do anything until it has been fully constructed.
It's freaking me out that there are builders looking in on my living room/kitchen/garden all the time and I can't go into any of them because of it, leaving me stuck in my bedroom.
I'm getting panic attacks more than ever and finding it really hard to leave my room for anything, let alone therapy.
I really need some encouragement that it is worth it right now =[

Hi Quinn, Welcome to the forum.

Blimey, that sounds like quite a situation with the builders. Do you perhaps have anything you can put up at the windows tonight, so that tomorrow when the builders arrive they won't be able to see in? Even if it's just a duvet cover or something? Would be worth it just to be able to go round your house without feeling spied on. I hate people being able to see into my flat, so I can empathise totally with that.

And the therapy will be worth it in the end, you need to stay strong and work at it with the right kind of support. I'm sure you'll also find a lot of support here. It's a pretty big forum, but that just means there's plenty of us here to talk to and find support from. Have a look around. xx

Do they use DBT?
I suppose what ever the therapy base it is all hard work.......I find I can use the skills etc I have learned through DBT when I am okay, but if I am depressed (like now) it gets very difficult.

hi, Maxi I am the same with the CBT I have done, its great to use when well and keep me "sane" but using it when my mood slips just seems pointless.....

anyway quinn,

back to you...

one thing at a time, why can't you get to see this friend? money? time?

as for the builders I guess a covering on some type may help, cheap curtains ay?

but as far as I know, if the building is illegally the planning depot can issue a stop notice, go to the head of planing, get your local paper involved....... the councill will soon act then..

wher ein the UK are you? maybe someone closer can offer more direct advise to you?

quinn maybe its a good sign if the therapy is hard - maybe you are working something out?
