I was diagnosed with major depressive order and put on zoloft. It helped immensely and suicidal thoughts went away. Great. But now, I'm noticing I'm so frivolous with money and just seem to have no worries. I'm sleeping mostly okay just weird dreams. I've started riding motorcycles because my husband bought one and I didn't even care that he did. This is just not me honestly.

I've read that antidepressants can make you manic if you are bipolar, but my doctor is convinced I'm not bipolar. My dad is super bipolar though and it runs in the family. Any thoughts on this?

I would get back to the psychiatrist
and say you are worried about the side effects
and medication may need to be changed or adjusted

if you feel he is not helping
you might need an advocate to attend with you

It's great the medication helped you and you are no longer in major depression, that is the worst, so this situation is much better than that. Perhaps some therapy could help you. Of course, you can't go crazy with spending money and get yourself in debt but the situation sounds much better than being in a deep depression. A mood stabilizer may help, like depakote or lamotrigine, but of course you need to consult your doctor.
