The neck pain that developed about 3am on Monday has now extended to my shoulder and upper arm.
I am taking pain killer to keep it at bay - but that has to be strictly controlled as it is dangerous and addictive.
I cannot go to the doctor tomorrow as I have an appointment that cannot be delayed.

I'm dreading tonight.
What with the coughing and this terrible pain too.
Maybe, just maybe I can sleep all the way through - but I doubt if that is possible.

It might be the cold travelling through your body.
I've been ill for three weeks - a bit more than a cold.

I have taken my pain killer now.
When I took them at 3:30 they took over half and hour to work.
So a few minutes before I have to go to bed.

On top of everything I've got diarrhoea now.
I suppose that's a side effect of one of the medicines I'm taking
Where will it all end?

Apparently that is one of the 'common' side effects of these antibiotics :(
(i.e. more than 1 in 100 patients report it)

I have to go to doctor immediately if I get it severe with bleeding.
Just another cheery thought to help me get off to sleep tonight
Whoop-de-doo

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear
It was horrible. Not much sleep obtained at all.
At 6:30am my neck and shoulders hurt so much I almost cried.
I took pain killer but it took ages to work.
When I woke just past eight I rang for a doctor's appointment
Then I was feeling better - more energy, pain gone.
So I cancelled the doctor and went to the event I was supposed to go to - where I was able to sing a couple of songs and maybe make contacts that will lead to some more work - so that was good.
But the neck pain returned in the afternoon. :low:
Taken more pain killers

If it hasn't cleared up tomorrow morning I HAVE to go to the doctor as I'm not allowed to take these pain killers for more than 3 days.

I am really pissed off with this illness

Today has been such an improvement on previous ones
I had to take the pain killers for my neck, but the coughing has been much less.
Just the occasional bout every now and then - just a couple of minutes each
Even manged to fall asleep on my back for a while in the afternoon

BUT

Come bedtime.
I take my tablets
I lie down to sleep - still in pain but..
I am on the very edge of sleep when...

I start coughing
And coughing

And I am still coughing an hour later

Where the F*** did this come from?
Why now?
I need my sleep!!!!

F*** F*** F***

I think this illness is sending me into depression.
I have lost all lust for life.
I don't enjoy my food
or anything much

Please let it end :panic:

Do you know what has caused your neck and shoulder pain? Sorry you're feeling so low. I hope you get it sorted and feel better soon.

I went to see the nurse at the doctors'
She says I have Torticollis - Twisted neck or Wry Neck
The treatment is to continue with the pain killers and do gentle neck exercises.
It should clear up in one or two days.

Please

I think I got more sleep last night than I have for a while. although not continuous
.
But when I woke up at 6:45 I was in agony - and still 3 hours before I could take another pain killer (although to be honest - they don't seem to help when the pain comes).

At one point (about 1:45am I thin) I went for a walk down the road. I thought it would help relax my nexk - and it did - but I am still not well from the chet infection, so walking out in the cold made me feel unweelll and I ha to come back to bed.

The oroblem is that when the pain comes all the muscles in my neck and shoulder tense - which makes it worse. I'm supposed to relax everything - but you try doing that when you are in pain!
I have started doing some yoga moves when it happens - but it is bloomin hard work.

If it hasn't improve d= by tomorrow I might have to go back to the doctor - but - oh yes, it's the weekend!

So I managed 7 hours sleep last night :)
BUT
I woke up with a pain in my neck :low:

I'm sure it is the way I sleep.
I always start lying down on my back, then roll over and fall asleep (on a good night)
But I realise that this means lying onmy front with my neck at a sharp angle as my head is sideways on the pillow.
I suppose I need to stop doing this aas it is too much of a strain on the neck - especially if it is going on most of the night.
But HOW to change my position when I'm fast asleep?
