Hi, I have anxiety and panic disorder and for the past month have been having nausea almost every day. Does anyone else experience nausea as a side effect of their anxiety?

Hi @Wanderlust709 and welcome to the forum.
I am sorry that you are struggling with anxiety. I do get nauseated when I have sever anxiety and panic attacks. I can’t eat anything and lose lots of weight.

I believe it’s a very common symptom but not always since each person is different.

Thank you for replying. My dr. thinks it's anxiety related but I'm not sure. I just got a second opinion and a prescription for raniditine so we'll see if that helps. Fingers crossed.

You are very welcome.

Your doctor is most likely correct. Anxiety is very complicated when it comes to symptoms. There’s a medication for nausea that melts in the mouth. I can’t recall what it’s called. It may help you.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi wanderlust. Just the other day I was at a wedding and had such a bad panic attack that I had to leave and was actually sick. It is quite common because the anxiety makes your stomach knot which can make you vomit. Hope that helps you

I experienced this regularly when my anxiety was at its worst and was unable to eat more than a couple of bites of food without becoming nauseous or even vomiting. Before we knew it was anxiety I was given many different medications from my doctor as they thought it might be IBS. Omeprazole may also help you but this is a very common symptom.

ondestestarone (spelling?) is the common anti-nausea medication.

When I am really anxious my appetite goes completely away fast. It goes to heartburn mostly for me but when really bad turns into nausea especially if I try to eat something when I feel that way.

Ondansetron works on the brain pathway with in regards to nausea, they used it initially for nausea in cancer patients.
So it would work well for anxiety related nausea,I would think.
