Hi all,
My brother is currently sectioned on a section 3. He was under the care of a consultant Psychiatrist, but ALOT of misconduct went on, so the ward manager changed him over to a different consultant Psychiatrist (who is still just as bad).
I remember this last one from when my brother was detained early last year. I've checked on the GMC and both are on their, with a license to practice, however neither are on the Specialist Registry. I've checked out their qualifications (on the basis of the letters after their names) and they are basic medical qualifications. Put it this way -
If I was researching to find a qualified Psychiatrist, nothing on the GMC credentials site, would make me think they were Psychiatrists.
I am so worried, as they are now blocking me and my mum (who is his NR) from getting any information. All information is given to us by my brother, whom they have deemed to have no capacity, so they can do what they like to him! And they are TELLING us, they will be giving him the depo injection, even though we and my brother don't feel this is best for him at current.
Any help or advice would be amazing, many thanks xx

He could try and appeal his section and take it to a tribunal. Other than that, I don't think there is much he can do.
Why not take the depo and see if he gets better?
All the best.

Laura.
Remember that the capacity issue is abused by medics all the time.
Capacity usually fluctuates anyway, so your brother could feel one thing one day, another thing the next day. If he lacks capacity, they cannot do as they wish to him! Do any of them have MRCPsych. After their name??
