for those who don't know she is my baby girl-well my dog but i think of her as my best friend/daughter
she is a weimaraner and sadly this breed only live 10-12 years
well she is 11 this year and i am terrified she is going to die

i keep crying because i can't imagine my life without her
i don't wan to do anything or even think because i just keep thinking i have less than 2 years with my baby left
i don't know what to do

there is a massive risk of me taking my own life when she goes cos i stay around for her as she needs me
when she is gone i won't be needed life will be pointless x

I know how much you love Maddie Lu.
Try to stay in the moment and enjoy everything with her.
I know that is much easier said than done.
I know Maddie is your whole life at home.

Lu, you are always needed here on the forum.
You have helped so many people in so many different ways.
There are still people who need you and there will be more
people in the future who will survive because of you.

Take care Lu and don’t think about hurting yourself in the future.

Love and hugs to both you and Maddie.

Yeh I love mine too hes certainly my baby too.
Hell be 11 in November.
My psychologist is like he will die one day hope you will be able to cope with that....
It sounds hard, but she and even my ex have suggested that I get a pup while hes still here as my boy dog can teach the pup some of his rules
Its like ummm...course I'll be a mess, wtf? The thing is sadly they dont live as long as us.
Like mine they would be absolutely devastated that something would happen to us,
She will always be looking out for you,
Sounds like she would be one of the best loved dogs around, cos I know mine is..I always say anyone hurts my dog,...

Truly I have looked at him and thought if he dies then it's all over, but if he knew that it would break his heart.
They will always be looking out for us,
And only wish us kind thoughts.
Now I'm going to cry..

Fairy Lu I know I have said this before you are one of those lovely souls, I've been here a while now ..you are always here for others, yeh we love you too
Then your Maddie might live longer we don't know none of us know

Try to think of happier times, playing with Maddie etc, and also, do keep posting and talking on MHF, let us know how you are feeling doing. I was going to contact you via email, i noticed a post this one from overnight, so that saved me, having to email.

Take care now.

Like megirl mentioned I know a couple of people who got a puppy when their older dog was in old age, the older dog helped teach the pup, and time for a bond to grow before heartbreak giving a new reason to go on. I don't know if that is possible for you though.
I'm sorry facing this is so painful, enjoy each day with Maddie, she loves you and wouldn't want you to hurt xx

You will be sad but that is different than depression. You can let yourself cry, miss her, be sad. But you can try not to let yourself get depressed. It is a distortion, not real. You can be ok. I am just reading about this in the book "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy". I hope it will help me. I read some to my husband, good for him to hear. I can be depressed for no reason too, it is a distortion you get stuck in. I have. For most of my life and that is a long time.
