Hi. I am looking to take to anyone else who suffers from Misophonia.. or 'fear' of particular sounds.

Its making my life hell at the moment and I would like to learn any ways people have found to help them cope with this.

I am getting very stressed, having more panic attacks than usual, and am loosing weight.

The sounds that trigger me mostly are music playing from neighbours, even if its so quite its hardly audible. Also the sound of base music in the distance, or the air conditioner extractor fan from next door at night.

I am even starting to hear theses things when there are not there.. as I am so obsessed with them. It's also harming my relationship. It only affect me at home. I can hear all these things outside or at another persons house, and have no reaction.

I am very similar never new there was a term for it. Noise really affects me, like you say at home. At times it's my subwoofer that's causing the noise, and I don't realise it. Got into major arguments with neighbours at times, and quite possibly it's me being unreasonable.

I don't like loud noises either, especially when it comes to crowds, that really bothers me.

Loud banging noises specifically balloons popping and fireworks will cause me anxiety and make me freak out. Certain frequencies also have the same effect on me. I think part of it is because I have Asperger’s disorder and certain noises seem to disorientate me and I seem to get sensory overload. I also avoid war Re-enactments because of the firing of the rifles and cannons.

Thanks for the replies people.

Another thing is really making me stressed at the moment is next door started a building company storage yard. Most mornings at 7 AM, I am woken up by workers voices, the radio being turned on and banging, hammering, sawing up steel. It's too much!! It goes on and off all day, so even when its quiet I am so anxious about when the next noises will start. It's making me feel sick and really triggering me.

I fear this is going to cause real tension in our house, because it was our land, and my partner insisted we sell it to our friend to do this, and this friend promised that it was just going to be for storage of building materials, because I was so worried about it. Now there are even workers living there, even through he insisted that would not happen. Its right next to our bedroom.

I feel really angry and just want to move out. He is way behind payment of the land too... so I am hoping he will not pay for it at the end of the contract time and we can kick him off.
