The next week;

Monday 26/7/2021

3pm, Sliders : Map of the Mind, Horror Channel. (In various versions of California) 4 people "slide" from parallel universe to parallel universe, where The Earth (The USA) is different in some way.

In this one, Diana finds herself in a sinister mental health facility where she is subjected to a brain remapping process that gives her great powers, but renders her unable to communicate with her colleagues.

The 4 Sliders have a `Timer' about the size of a mobile phone with a display that ticks down from a random point from a few minutes to several weeks or so. All 4 have to be assembled together by the time it ticks down to zero to in order "slide" to the next universe and not get left behind - so obviously being imprisoned etc can present a big problem in itself - though the others can break INTO prisons etc to assemble there by zero to all escape (to another universe) that way.

This is from the 5th and final season. The series had a Charlie's Angels type changing line up over time, and only 1 of the original 4 travellers remains by this point - Rembrandt Brown (actor Cleavant Derricks) - and he's the only of them from this Earth by now too! Hence he gets top billing in this season. In season 1 he was billed last since merely an accidental traveller amongst the 4 originals!

(He's a Motown type singer who happened to be passing and got sucked into a vortex triggered by a Quantum Physics prodigy (Quinn) in front of his mentor (Arturo) and his on/off computer hacker girlfriend (Wade) - who all passed through it. Those other 3 eventually met various fates - i.e. the actors fell out with the producers. Also 1 Slider who joined from another universe in Season 4 (Colin) has also gone awol by Season 5. So by now we have 1 Slider from this Earth from Season 1 (Rembrandt), 1 from a Season 3 universe (Maggie), and 2 from a universe we saw right at the start of Season 5 (Mallory and Diana) - try to keep up at the back there!)

The actress Jaclyn Smith - Kelly Garrett in the original Charlie's Angels - did the same type of thing. Originally the lesser of the main characters but eventually got top billing by merely being the last original one standing.
