Mental health TV shows - Sat 15/5/2021 to Fri 21/5/2021

Podcast - Prince Harry joins the Armchair Expert to discuss how to approach mental health issues, growing up with privilege, and how healing it is to perform a service for someone. Harry discusses how much like the Truman Show his life is, unconscious bias, and how people can change their mindset once they acknowledge it. Harry talks about his time in the military service, how it opened his eyes to the trauma people face around the world, and how much more important mental health is than physical health.

1 hour 35 minutes - Prince Harry — Armchair Expert

From suburban England to bustling Taipei and back again, Nathan builds complex relationships as he is confronted by the irrational nature of love.

9pm, Subnormal: A British Scandal, BBC 1. In the 1960s, West Indian migrants to the UK counted on providing better opportunities for their children. However, there are suggestions that before having a chance to develop intellectually, their offspring were labelled as `stupid, difficult and disruptive' as psychologists such as Hans Eysenck and Arthur Jensen theorised that black people were genetically less intelligent than white. IQ tests were then based on these theories with the odds stacked against them. Featuring first-hand interviews with key participants of the time, this documentary examines what is potentially one of the biggest scandals in the history of British education.

Midnight, Reverie, Syfy. Former hostage negotiator Mara Kint, an expert on human behaviour, takes a job saving people whose minds are lost in an advanced virtual-reality simulation, like permanent daydreaming.

(Subsequent episodes are on subsequent weekdays - I don't know why the series didn't start on Monday)

Friday

3pm, Sliders - Murder Most Foul. Horror Channel. Sci-fi series where 4 travellers `slide' from parallel universe to parallel universe, where things are partially different on that Earth in some way.

In this one, the travellers hunt for a Jack the Ripper-style serial killer in a psychotherapy theme park resembling Victorian London, in a world where overworked and stressed-out people are sent to fantasy camps to improve their work output.

0.05am, Rasputin The Mad Monk, Talking Pictures. Towards the end of the film there's a fight between Ivan (Francis Matthews) and Rasputin (Christopher Lee). Francis in an interview said that he spent about 14 days filming the fight with Chris' double. 'I got thrown over a settee which toppled over and a bookcase fell on me so I was very dishevelled and in a mess. When you look at the film (though) ..... Almost all of the fight had been cut.'

(See how he looks very smart at the start of the fight but then suddenly isn't. Francis Matthews was the voice of Captain Scarlet of course).

Daily

9.05am, Frasier, Channel 4. The psychiatrist abandons his bar-propping in Boston (a heavily Irish descendant city in the north eastern USA) in favour of presenting a radio show in Seattle (a more Hippie influenced city in the north west). However, his new life is thrown into upheaval when his father moves in with him - followed by his apparently psychic care assistant Daphne.

(There are just over 260 episodes and it runs in double-bills at 9am daily)

Thanks! I was half expecting some sort of refutation or expose! 😆
Persona: The dark truth behind personality tests. Sounds interesting! I've never liked those test, perhaps that's because I am not a fan of mental gymnastics! :scratcheshead:😃
