Okay I need to talk to someone about the fact that mental health professionals are by nature and by definition perhaps, can’t be experiencing the actual symptoms that they supposedly diagnose because they would therefor be unable to have achieved such a level of education and professional expertise while also being the gatekeepers of mental illness and blindly waving their wand of knowledge upon us psychotics because they read it in a book. Tired of the conversation around official diagnoses when the mainstream cultural viewpoint (race sexuality gender etc) is shifting towards the idea that you can’t really speak on a subject without experiencing it. I know I have mental health problems because I’m smart and motivated yet incapable of comprehending normalcy: ie getting dressed, containing my emotions, not living in a pile of garbage with a head full of paranoia and self hatred mixed with egotistical maniasiscm. I’m frustrated because I need help but I know that the professional help Can’t actually comprehend my issues

Someone who is colorblind can know color theory and the fact that red is sort of yellow and sort of orange but if they haven’t seen red they can’t know what red actually looks like

No one can ever know how you experience things either. That is your experience only. We are all in the same boat, separately. But people can be experts on conditions.

Yes I agree with you. In my experience it has been frustrating and dangerous to trust a mental health expert who has the power to prescribe medication/alter your state of mind/ dismiss your experiences. Experts have power and they are also human. I don’t deny that they have knowledge and expertise but I think the whole field of categorizing and diagnosing mental disorders by folks who are nuerotypical has failed many people including me.

For example I feel I am struggling to make my point clear and we are having a disagreement. Well imagine if you had once chance to talk about “how you feel and think” and you didn’t do it right oops now you’ve been diagnosed with schizophrenia

Yeah, maybe you had a lousy doctor or two? Or a well-meaning one who made mistakes?

I think they were just reciting their memorized education though and waiting for the paycheck like no malintent involved but could pass for robots.
