Birmingham Mental Health Mates Meet-Up - by Amy Rose

This is for anyone affected by Mental Health Issues who wants to meet up with like minded people in a comfortable, welcoming and non-judgmental environment.

We meet on the 1st Sunday of every month* in the lovely Tea Rooms at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. There is no specific structure to our meets, just a relaxed meetup with no pressure to talk or get involved. Look out for the long table with a couple of balloons on.

*Please note this may be adjusted if lands on certain days such as Easter. Monitor this website and Facebook etc for changes.

Positive Mental Health Group - monthly networking meeting dates for 2018. The group is open to anyone with an interest in promoting a greater awareness of mental health issues across the communities of Birmingham and Solihull. Your chance to share information, news & views with statutory agencies, voluntary sector organisations, user groups - and individual users/carers/staff. Come and join one of the biggest mental health networking meetings in the Midlands, every month! Just turn up - no need to book. Just a short walk from all city centre rail stations and bus stops. The cafe is located next to Birmingham LGBT Health & Wellbeing Centre, opposite the Chinese pagoda traffic island and the Radisson hotel.

Buses X61 and 63 stop at HF1 outside the cafe. The journey is just two stops from the Rotunda/Bullring centre, board buses outside the Boots store.

RECENT NEWS - A shop called Delora's Retreat Boutique, under the umbrella of ‘Go Get Your Dreams - Just Do Ltd’ has been opened and is now run by Jemma. It was opened by Fred Holland, Diabetes Ambassador and Tina Hobin, Local Belly Dancing Queen on 1st September 2018 realising her dreams of becoming a centre that houses all of her ventures, an office, shop, learning environment, mentoring & coaching centre. The homely shop hosts three different uses to serve the community.

Delora's Retreat Boutique sells homemade soaps, skincare & haircare products, second hand ladies clothing & shoes, teddies and bespoke items.

Jadstone Learning Centre caters for Education and Learning, Assist Angels is the Community Drop In, Sign Posting, Advocacy & Coaching Centre in Cleobury Mortimer.

You can visit the picturesque town in the countryside and then visit the shop at 7 Talbot Square, Worcestershire. DY14 8BQ.

Car Park at rear and on the High Street. The shop is off the main shopping street, up an alleyway by The Talbot Pub, The Stables Tavern, by Simply Fresh Convenience Store, next to The Funeral Directors and Opposite the NHS Dentist Surgery.

We have had positive feedback in the form of testimonials and visitors returning on a regular basis coupled with visitors from afar, that is encouraging. You can view these comments written by our customers on postcards in an album in the shop. Come and visit us. We are open from 12pm – 3pm daily Monday – Friday and Saturday from 11am – 3pm.

Out of hours times available for Tuition, Mentoring and Clarity, Advancement, Vision Coaching are available by prior arrangement. Jemma undertakes work elsewhere in the mornings supporting a student at home. This is on going, productive and supportive.

Call Jemma on 07488 420 420 to book your initial consultation. Your first 15 minutes is given free of charge then £30 is charged for your first consultation lasting an hour then £20 for a 45 minute weekly session after that.

Call out charges apply for home visits from £30 - £50 up to a 30 mile radius depending upon location. Baby and Toddler music sessions are available on Tuesdays from 1pm and Thursdays from 12pm. £3 a family.

Writing classes are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12pm too for the same cost. Individual lessons are available during working and out of hours hours. Tailor these sessions to your needs. Ask for free 15 min check in. 6 half hour sessions can be booked for £130 and can be used by different family members. Ask to join the recorder group or choir.

FURTHER NEWS - Assist Angels has become a Dementia Friendly Organisation. At Delora's Retreat Boutique, you can be assured that we help and understand people affected by Dementia, supporting carers, friends and family. There is a new DEMENTIA home opening in Cleobury Mortimer in the first quarter of the year. Jemma will be attending Dementia Friends Training In Birmingham and will attend a local meeting in January.
