i first entered the mental health system at the age of 19 40yrs ago, it was the start of care in the community, as instigated by thatcher. a lot on the left didn't approve

i was on this estate at one point the caretaker was a labour party member and unite union member, he would say every time a mentally ill person was housed that another of maggie thatchers care in the community people had been housed in such a flat and he didn't approve

at the time this was not bigotry it was an acceptable pc opinion if you were on the left,

my dads champagne socialist neighbour when i came home to escape the estate said he'd be better off in hospital, again that was a pc opinion

then there were the council and community orgs voluntary sevtor who if you went to you'd be told to go to mental health services, that only really changed with the disability discrimination act

there were also the problem kids on that estate what might now be called disability hate crime wasn't an isssue this pc social worker told me i should be grateful to have a roof over my head

whats fraud got to do with it because i take one gram of sulpiride a day that zaps the symptoms isn't fraud, it also makes me unfit for work

what i resent is those who take risks with their health either by cutting down on meds or refusing meds been a priority for benefits etc and support they themselves say they don't want
