Well after my meeting with the doctor on Monday I agreed to have a dose increase to 111mg a day of lurasidone. I really hope it has not stopped working like the other meds that I have been on and that a quick med tweak is all that's needed.

Not feeling too bad but I am irritable and I am having trouble keeping focus on things.

Mood is currently good and has been since starting the lurasidone however voices are starting to become negative and bothersome.

What was the dose before the meeting?

When I started taking medication my voice really kicked off, that's how I knew it was working, the more unhappy he got the happier I was.

How many different meds have you been on now? I'm on my third, well sort of, I went on a combination of my second and third after a short while.

10mg Aripiprazole (2nd med, was on 30mg but that gave me side effects) and 3rd med is 4mg Risperidone, no side effects so far but my blood work may say differently.

74 mg before the meeting
Haloperidol Tablets
Haloperidol Depot
Flupenthixol Depot
Chlorpromazine Tablets (brilliant drug but left me as stiff as an ironing board)
Quetiapine Tablets
Risperidone Tablets
Risperidone Consta Depot
Olanzapine Tablets
Amisulpride Tablets
Aripiprazole Tablets
Clozapine (Had to stop due to low neutrophils)
Lurasidone Tablets

I was classed as treatment resistive however the lurasidone and the clozapine did work

Wow, that's a right laundry list of medication. Yeah, I'd say your resistant alright.

I hope the increase does you good.

When you say negative and bothersome what do your voices say? Mine mostly begs for attention and to come off medication, like that's going to happen. He gets verbally abusive when he doesn't get his own way which is all the time.

Mine are a constant running commentary on every action I do. Then I get "he is evil" "he is a murderer"

mostly negative stuff. I have learnt to deal with it but at the moment its begging to wear a little thin and I have trouble dealing with them. I have tried negotiating with them but that did not work. I go to bed with them and I wake up with them. They tell me what I am eating/drinking and even discuss me amongst themselves which is very strange. its like being criticised right in front of you by people yet when I try to defend myself they don't listen.

I hate brain chemistry ha.

Risperidone really caused me to have a very foggy head. The depot was a little better but for me it did nothing for the voices

Mine used to do the commentary, tried telling me what to eat or drink, how much liquid to put in the washing machine and even when to spit when brushing my teeth, basically tried to micromanage every aspect of my life in the early days.

Now he's being ignored completely and on medication so that's all he's focused on these days, he rants, whines and begs all day long from the moment I wake up till I fall asleep at night about me not talking to him, about how unfair all this is to him and about my decision to never come off medication. He also sings in between all of this.

I can handle it well enough, he's just a nagging little child to me.

At least yours doesn't cause you physical pain, mine learned how to create tactile hallucinations of severe pain and it was just like the real thing before medication that's why he's on them for life, I'm never giving him the opportunity to do that ever again.

I've tried negotiating aswell but so far I've failed too. He's slow so it may just take some time.

You seem to feel that you have a sort of symbiotic relationship with your voice. Having 1 voice to deal with in this way must be tricky. that's a way to deal with it that I have tried but realised I may as well talk to the TV.
I have several voices commenting on my actions

I have no such connection with my voices. I have learnt that this is a chemical problem within the brain. its not spiritual its just a glitch in the system. The paranoia and the thoughts of persecution are also a result of the same glitch. My D2 receptor level is too high and this can affect my insight.

I also suffer from depression and can sink really low. This is because of the schizophrenia and trying to maintain it to live a normal life. Sometimes we just get tired and then it gets the better of us.

Can i ask you a question?

is your voice when you hear it sound like you?

I forget fazza, is lurasidone know. As Latuda? I used to take 100mg before swapping to brexpiprazole (known under patent as Rexulti) 4mg with chlorpromazine 200mg and flupenthixol 100mg fortnightly.

I think we may be similar in that medications only work for a relatively short period of time before they lost their efficacy.

Sorry I didn't get back to you last night, I went to bed just before midnight.

My voice does sound like me but usually a slightly higher pitch for all the whining he does.

You've probably heard my beliefs before but I think we all share our bodies with another mind, a unique and independent mind separate from our own. When I came to that decision mine did admit to it but he's a compulsive liar so I'll never know for sure.

A book I've been reading did say scientists have done tests and figured out that both hemispheres of the brain contain different minds (we occupy the left and this other mind occupies the right hemisphere) but again it's just a book and I don't agree with 100% of what the author says about them.

Yes lurasidone is latuda. It's a real pain when you think you have found a med that works only for it to fail 6 months later.
When I was on clozapine things were going great but my bloods went crazy (low neutrophils) and I had to come off it.

I still have some range in dose of the latuda so this increase will hopefully hold things steady for a while.

just coming up to a month now on my new dose and it looks like it has stopped working. Just like all the other anti-psychotics that I have been on.
There is scope for another increase but this seems to be following an all similar pattern.

currently on
sertraline 200mg
lurasidone 111mg
lithium 600mg
bisoprolol 15mg

running at 30 percent at the moment.
