I'm 26 from UK, I have had social anxiety since I was around 14. Don't really have any friends, I have one friend that I see literally every few months for a catch up. It'd be lovely to talk to others who also have social anxiety. No one in my circle really knows how hard it is. I've also moved recently and haven't really made any friends, although I am friendly with neighbours.
Would love to know how difficult other people's anxiety is, and where it may have stemmed from? I am currently doing CBT therapy and have been told it is a result of how I was treated as a child and low self esteem.
Anyone else have kids? I have a 8 month old son who is my world- I have wanted to take him to baby classes but my anxiety has held me back. It breaks my heart because I don't want him missing out because of me.

Hey,
I am 26 too and dealing with social anxiety since my early teenage days too. I believe a low self esteem is something many of us share. I always had the feeling most people are generally hostile towards me and don't want something to do with me, which honestly was and still is true. I have also a disorder which greatly impacts my social anxiety and is basically feeding it everytime.

I did a stationary therapy and I became a lot better after that, but it's still hard. I intend to go to university at the end of this year again and try if it works, but it might too much for me still, I don't know.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be if you have a child. Like if the love for him is drawing you to the one side and the anxiety to the other which is tearing you apart. Please keep being motivated about your therapy, anxiety can be tackled and I wish you all the best luck it's getting a little easier with time for you.

31 and dealing with the same!
Is there anyone who could go with you to a baby class? Someone who can help support you?

Things like going new places, meeting new people and more are so hard with it!

Sorry for late reply this website is so glitchy. My partner might go with me but sometimes just being in social situations with him makes my anxiety worse! I don't know if it's because I feel like he is watching my interactions or if I'm just paranoid!
