The big day on Monday guys

Boris Johnston set to say GP surgeries and supermarkets exempt from passports

However I could be banned from transport cinema pubs football holidays any part of normal live and could be under permanent lockdown without weekly testing

Any positive words? Will it get through Parliament if Labour and Lib Dem are opposing it?

Anybody help? I am terrified I am going to have to pay for expensive saliva tests to go anywhere. Being honest I probably wouldn’t go far as it’s a lot of hassle lots of money £120 pounds and don’t want to worry about the result. But we have a prime minister who wants to announce these by Monday? People said wait and see well what happens Monday when he demands passports for the pub?

I've heard there will be some sort of discussion and announcement about this early this month, not sure about it being Monday though.
I have also read that even if this passport nonsense does come in for pubs, not only would it be a temporary measure but that it wouldn't be implemented until after every adult from every group had been offered the vaccine.
So it's not as if it's an immediate thing you need to be worrying about.

That’s true. How long would you see it happening for? Just a year maybe? I may have to avoid pubs or whatever for a while until it’s normal. A positive comment I can share is Whitty said we wouldn’t lockdown again and we will treat this like flu? That’s good news. He will announce more Monday I know supermarkets are exempt and hospitals. But yeah I mean for travel it will be hard I will have to take a test and add it into the cost of my holiday. Could also mean due to tests lasting 72 hours I can’t stay long. I think life might be hard for a few years I am trying to be positive. I just want to have a party and also a holiday like old times but it’s so hard to do that. For 4 years I avoided flying due to anxiety and went lots of Uk holidays so I have to readjust and find some enjoyment in the current sitation?

To be honest, I have no idea. I'll be surprised if it lasts into next year.
But from the things I've read no one seems to know or agree on anything. They are quite simply winging it, from what it looks like, as it's too early to tell how effective the vaccines actually are right now.
On the travel side of things, I doubt you'd have to take a test every 72 hours. It will probably end up being a test before you leave here, and one before you return. Yes, that may be annoying but in my mind it's not really a big deal. Least it means you are still able to have holidays.

Everyone is in the same boat, with the same stresses and worries. We are all having to except that things have changed and may never go back to how they were. We are all having to readjust to life right now. You are not the only one.
I think you need to spend more time working on your anxieties and less time reading this covid media frenzy rubbish.

What advice can you give me i can only take saliva tests and they cost £120 pounds what if my work brings this in? I am on low income it would cost me more a month testing than I actually earn.

BBC says “There would also be exemptions for people for whom vaccination is not advised or repeat testing is difficult.”

I have chronic mental health and bipolar would I be exempt? What sort of exemptions would the government include? Testing causes me extreme anxiety other than saliva testing which is expensive.

Anybody give me any advice? And no I’m not having the vaccine so would need tested but I believe they may test those who had the vaccine too.

Have your work said anything about bringing in testing for employees..??
If they haven't then I would worry about it. But if they have then surely it's on them to provide and pay for the testing, it should not come out of your pocket.

As for the exemptions, nothing has been announced, as you know. So no one can advise you on what will be an acceptable condition or reason that would exempt people from getting repeat tests.
All we can do is wait and see. Nothing is coming in immediately or even within the next few months, so try not to dwell on it all too much of you can.

We have no word on testing yet. And I have no idea maybe I could request a saliva test? My worry is they will say swab test or nothing? Hopefully not though.

Until they bring it in or even mention it, I seriously wouldn't even worry about it. I highly doubt it would be a case of get tested or lose your job, in any case.

The latest is

The SNP's Westminster leader has opened the door to voting for Covid status checks in England – likely to all but guarantee Commons support for the move despite a growing Tory rebellion.

And non essential shops could demand it. In other news the vaccine may be suspended in under 30’s.

Are we heading to a papers society?

I really can't see non essential shops demanding proof of being vaccinated or a negative test result before you go wandering around the store to buy slippers or something.

Yup, sounds like nonsense to me.
I really don't think they'd be able to get away with even attempting it, so I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

Things open up this month but it’s been that long things will seem strange. Plus things won’t be 100% normal but I’ve spent so long indoors it’s going to be very strange going to a shop again other than my work. Anybody else feelings strange? It may take me time to get use to being out again. I have been to the town but it’s very strange everything being closed.

I'm due to go back work soon after being off for over a year due to covid stuff, and I'll be honest and say the thought of being back out and mixing with the public again freaks me the hell out.
But needs must and all that.
