I took it illegally years ago. Not a drug I enjoyed but I'm guessing treatment doses would be lower. I would give it a try under the circumstances you explained. I'm very desperate to get over my long term depression. Mushrooms are something I have read about recently. Under dr. supervision, I'd try anything. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your reply. I would do anything at all to stop this endless depression, but from what I understand one could have a 'bad trip' from this drug? Maybe I am incorrect but that scares me. I remember in college a bunch of kids and my roommates taking mushrooms and having a great time, but they told me not to try them cuz they knew my parents were very against drugs and said they'd be worried I'd have a bad experience, because I'd feel guilty about disappointing them if they found out somehow...that was 20 years ago though!

Ketamine is a tranqualizer. When it is abused the user go's into what is called a K Hole. I learned this on the street and this is slang by those who do it illegally. I never saw anyone have a bad trip but I'm sure too much will stop your heart. Mushrooms (which I've also done) are different and I suppose a bad trip is possible though I have never had one or seen another have one. I saw a few people have bad trips on acid so I never tried it. I'm not promoting illegal drug use at all btw, I think anyone with depression should be extra careful actually. I won't do any illegal drugs these days. Have not smoked mj in 15 years, it makes me paranoid in public. Not what I need with agoraphobia!

Ketamine is a promising treatment. In the U.S. it is most often given IV. However, a nasal spray has been developed and is FDA approved in the U.S. Ketamine works quite rapidly, so there is not the month long wait to see if it will work like other meds.

I have not tried it yet myself, but I intend to as soon as I can get access to it. It can be somewhat costly. However, major depression is so bad, almost any cost is worth it to me to get relief, since my life is so painful and terrible when suffering from it.

I am in the US and currently don't go to any doctors, so I cannot imagine what I'd have to go through to get approved for it, plus the cost too. Ugh. If you do try it and happen to remember to direct message me about your experience I would really appreciate it. Depression medications have never worked for me. Yes the suffering is intolerable and excruciating every day. Thank you for your reply.

There are quite a number of clinics that give it IV in the U.S. It is not so difficult to get approved for it. But you will have to pay for it. However, I know how miserable it is to be very depressed, it makes life intolerable. I don't know your financial situation, but if you can part with a few thousand dollars, it may be well worth it. Nothing is worse than living with depression. It is like being in hell.

Me,. I would never try it. I was it due to a surgery that cost me 6 weeks in the hospital. It was the most intense, scary, terrifying time in my life. I wouldn't even consider it. The hallucinations are the only thing I remember about the 6 weeks in the hospital. And they came from the Ketamine.
