Hi,

As you can tell by the thread title I am new to the forum.
I am a young person at university who unfortunately has dealt with depression and anxiety for many years; I hope this forum will help me to open up and cope better with my mental health.

Thank you x

I wish I had now. I've been interested in economics since about 14yo, and politics since about 1998 (24yo)

Do you like it?

I do enjoy it, however, I know I will keep clear of a highly political career in the future &
you sound like the perfect candidate for a politics degree

I've been saying for years, that no one will get into politics in future, as press/ and now social media hound people in politics, and no one wants this. I always said that we'll end up with a few morons, who like the spectacle of it all, rather than intelligent people.

Unfortunately, there is truth to that. Politics to some extent is the politics of personality rather than of competence

I'm just looking for old posts in here, but can find easier on other forums, things I was writing...

see these 2,

see the date, nearly 3 years ago, where I was replying to people about politicians being hounded outside their houses, which I find absolutely unacceptable! I mentioned Boris AND Corbyn, which was what this was about.

I also correctly predicted that there will be a labour split, and Ummuna, would be amonsgt this.

the other was my advice to young people to not post crap on social media!

I do worry about what the political landscape will look like when my generation become leaders. Social media is a double-edged sword and it is unsettling to think a comment made 15 years ago can destroy a career.

I've been online since before most people at 1998. Back then it was all geek sites, or discussions with added porn spams!

Back in 2007 (long before things like facebook or twitter were well known or well used, I wrote extensively about information exchange (as I called it then), and the dangers of it for spreading propaganda! see here for a snippet, (which was a prediction, that now is close to what I was predicting as 'fakenews'

Snippet, click to expand, short paragraph

(full version, written 2007)

anyway sorry to deflect your intro into political debate!

I actually mostly avoid politics and news now, but this conversation would have gone completely differently, had you said 'art' or something to my question about what you studying?

Have a look around the forums,

Lots of support sections, and specific MH probs sections,

but also is place to chat with people and forget MH, like here

:)

Don't worry, it usually happens the minute someone asks me what I study ahahaa.
Nevertheless, thank you for introducing yourself to me and dispensing some of your wisdom.

Hi HoneyBi :welcome:
I found this forum easy to 'open-up' within & it has helped me enormously over the last few years to 'cope', when perhaps i otherwise would have been un-able to.

Hope it helps you too :grouphug:

 yes, especially these days, as last couple of years - everyone has become interested here with politics since brexit

Not sure about wisdom, I think I'm just good at predicting things when I look at numbers.

Do look around the forum. The chill out is good to take mind off things :)
