so i had my gp appointment about chest pains
they did an ECG which was ok
they think i am having chest pains because of anxiety

so i guess there is nothing wrong with me?
if it is not physical it is not serious?
i know at least 3 people who would think that way

being in emotional pain is nothing ,if its not physical but its mental instead there is not a problem there is nothing wrong

why can't my mental suffering be enough?

had an awful day in many ways .im off to bed x

why is mental pain not seen as serious?

Hi, sorry about the bad day. I think we all know here just how bad everything can seem/be even if physically we are passed as OK. I think the importance of mental health is now more and more being recognised to be as serious as anything else. Times are changing. I think we are playing our own small part here in helping to bring the change about.

Hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Hi Lu,
Mental pain is suffering, more Drs should know this.
We do care about you on here.
Hopefully the cardiologist will be able to reassure you.
Sending you heaps of hugs
Your poorly and we totally understand.
Maybe relaxation might help, I hope so.
Hope you feel better very soon.
It's difficult when you have a mental health diagnosis to be treated seriously by some Drs.
I've had that problem.
We're here to listen anytime.

We live in the 21th century still getting 20th century treatment .(the awareness is out there) or is that just a publicity stunt.
Every other field in medicine has moved on but not mental health will always be at the back of the queue.
Most gp don't even try to practice psychology they are just failed Drs.
Everytime I even mentioned my mental health it's quick ring the cmht.

can i ask ,how do you want loved ones to respond to your anxiety?
would you rather they were like a professional and like a doctor or counsellor and practical
or would you rather have a hug and reassurance?

i miss my mums hugs x

My family disregard everything
I'm just me to them.
Nothing they can do will change me
Plus I leave away from my family now. Have done for 10 years now I wanted to do life by myself only then you realize just how much of a wall they had in placed.
Plus doing this has made me stronger and have to deal with/ handle these symptoms disorder traits etc.
When I lived with my family life wasn't real i didn't need therapy I didn't need meds it was my personality.
On a whole my mum done nothing medical wise but she makes sure I could set myself up in life.
And to stick my middle finger up to anyone who try something.

What do you normally do to cheer yourself up ?
I normally put on music or play with my dog
I find having a dog really good with having GAD

People that don’t understand or recognize anxiety don’t really take us seriously. Or if they try to, they don’t really relate.

I know what you are feeling with chest pains and anxiety and it’s not going to kill you but damn, it’s definitely uncomfortable. It’s a real physical manifestation so you aren’t imagining it but people just want us to snap out of it. It doesn’t work that way.

It took me many years but I learned to sort of ignore the anxiety attacks and just say to myself it will pass, it won’t kill me, and do breathing exercises. That sometimes doesn’t work still and I have some medicine as an emergency stopgap. But I try never to take it. That way when I do, it still has potency at very low doses.

I feel for what you’re going through:hug:
