Is feeling angry a manic episode?

I feel so angry feeling like I could beat the shit out of someone that crosses me. I have been losing my temper with 6 year old and partner. Whilst driving yesterday I wound open my window and shouted at a driver saying you can't park here. Thinking back he could of. Was going to beat shit out of him.

Shortly after these angry out bursts I feel very depressed, like nothing matters anymore. If I go back onto quitirepine I just feel drowsy and numb. I thought manic episodes were supposed to last for weeks then you crash.

Does anyone else experience this?

One characteristic of mania is that people can become easily aggravated and agitated and can take this out on others. I have become agitated during mania and snapped at others in ways that might have seemed to be unreasonable. Usually mania does last for at least a few weeks unless you are hypomanic. Do these aggravated feelings last much longer than just a day?

Lasts about a day then I reflect on it afterwards, which makes me depressed. I have been getting more angry recently.

Are there other things you could attribute the anger to? (Holidays, everyday pressures, general life frustrations/unhappiness, etc...?)

My wife was quite angry during her last manic episode (which lasted ~7-8 weeks). She had some wild mood swings where she would be somewhat calm and then suddenly flip to being extremely irritable and lashing out at anyone who she felt even remotely crossed her path. But she didn't feel any remorse/regret after the outburst was over. She would just calm down a bit and then acknowledge that she was just got riled up. The regret/remorse only started to happen after she finally came down from her manic episode and looked back. Once the mania was over, so was the mood swings...

My anger sometimes feel deep seated?

I used to lash out at my mother, she is a witch, but when she told me to redo my will and leave everything to her, like I should fricken die before her, I cut off all contact from her and have calmed down.

I think she encouraged bad behaviour whenever I achieved or coped.

The people around you do make a difference.

Maybe I am on the wrong site, getting no feedback?

Of course. Getting away from toxic people is important. Unfortunately it's often family and we're stuck with them.

To the OP, dunno if you experience mania. That is serious stuff. Having anger issues is serious too. But I don't think they're the same. You could have one without the other. Some people have mania without anger. Others are angry without mania.
