Thanks for putting that website on its really usefull. I have been suffering from depression lately as I've had such a bad year in my family this year and normally I only suffer from GAD. I have felt so down and keep crying and find it hard to stop but reading that site it sounds as if most people taking it for depression are on 150mg and not just 75mg like me. I wonder if I should see my Dr and increase the dose just to get me over this difficult time. I am seeing my link worker on monday so might speak to her first. Nicola

Hi, 75mg is the starting dose. i feel it would be a good idea to speak with your link worker and follow his/her advice.

Venlafaxine is an anti-depressant which aims to help anxiety related problems too. Its certainly helped me out.:)

I am seeing my link worker next week and I have been to the Dr today and had a chat about how down I've been feeling so he suggested that I increase the venlafaxine dose to 150mg split into 75mg twice a day and see how that works. I will see him again in 4 weeks time Nicola

re:Venlafaxine

Hi Nicros,
Glad you managed to see your GP, hope the meds increase will help you.
I was in the pdoc's waiting room and found a leaflet called 'No More Panic'.It recommends the following site for panic and anxiety problems...
www.nomorepanic.co.uk. I haven't had time to go on it myself yet but it may be of help...let me know!:)

Hi I am happy taking t:clap:he 2x75mg twice a day atm as this is to help me over a difficult patch atm but I hope to go back down as soon as things improve, and thanks for the 'no panic' website quality factor I did find it just after I was diagnosed with GAD but it is much more comprehensive now and really useful for anxiety suffers, Nicola

I am really glad to have found this thread, as I have just been switched to Venlafaxine from the previous drug. I actually took the first dose today.

I have seen a lot of literature describing Venlafaxine as rather controversial, due to major withdrawal symptoms as well as possible increase of suicidal thoughts. It is reassuring, however, to see that most of you seem to have handled it fine.

I hope it works!
