I am: Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety with periods of Agoraphobia, and Derealization/Depersonalization Disorder.

I'm also quite certain that people are going to say that those are things I have, not things I am, but that's not how it feels.
I'm here to say things, and have things said to me, and see if anything worthwhile comes from that.

I'm currently not in the best mind-state, so this introduction will have to suffice.

Hiya and welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of people who also suffer from these things on here so may well be supportive and kind. I understand feeling as though your diagnosis is who you are. For years I was simply Bipolar and the rest of me disappeared. Several of my family did also focus exclusively on the diagnosis to the detriment of all other aspects of myself. It took mindfulness and constant life affirmations to myself to break through this and remember that I was a person outside of my diagnosis. Interesting thread

Also In a bad spot as of late. I don’t think everything going on in the world helps any of us. I have anxiety, depression, PTSD and depersonalization (with a hint of OCD for good measure) it’s hard going to doctors or professionals and having them not understand what you’re experiencing let alone how to fix it. And I too feel like it ends up feeling like your mental health struggles are your identity versus just something we deal with

Your post resonates with me. I was clearing my desk drawers yesterday and found a scrap of paper where I’d just scrawled “I am pain” and underlined it...clearly a rough day.
