Intense depression keeps coming on in waves during relapse

I just need some support and reassurance...2 years ago I suffered a major breakdown and fell into a stubborn agitated depression. I've spent the last 2 years recovering and I did a pretty good job, but a week ago i relapsed triggered after having my wisdom teeth out. It tore apart my routine and I've fallen into what feels like a worse depression than before.
But this time it's different. It keeps coming in waves almost from minute to minute. One moment I'll be feeling like I can cope, the next I get intense anxiety and struggle to drag my heels. 2 weeks ago I went back on fluoxetine 10mg...it constantly feels like my brain chemistry is fluctuating....Maybe it's just trying to balance out and is a normal part of recovery?
Any insights would be much appreciated

Hi Livelifestrong. I wonder if it's a mistake to take medication again just due to a medical procedure that is now over and done. Do you feel you gave it enough time ??
