Does anyone have any advice on dosage for Inositol powder? It seemed to be calming at first but I'm not sure anymore. I have been taking 3g twice a day(I read that in studies up to 18g was used but I hate to think that I'd be wasting so much money taking so much when a lower dose was enough).

The things I have tried previously for depression are:
5HTP
Rhodiola
St Johns Wort

Recently started:
Inositol and SAMe

I can't say anything has had a definite, strong, consistent effect on my mood(which is why I'm currently reluctantly dragging my feet over going back on ADs).

Has anyone tried SAMe and had success? It has been my last hope before getting meds but I don't think it's helping(at least not a strong enough effect).

Other supplements I take:
Multivitamin and mineral
Milk Thistle
Fish oils
Greens powder
Glucosamine
MSM
Diatomaceous Earth
Probiotic

^These are things I would take even if I wasn't suffering mentally for overall benefits.

Inositol can give you the runs if you take too much. 1/4 tsp at a time, no more than 3-4 times a day is the dose. A lot of people put it in water and drink it throughout the day.

I have gone on to a natural formula instead of drugs and it includes vitamen D, 6 -7,000 iu a day, other suplements from True Hope like EMpower, Amino Power Plus, Inositol and others as well as Super Sleep including Melatonin, L-Theamine and 5-HTP for sleep. Drugs I was taking started to become effective but not nearly as much as the natural remedies I found.

Best of luck to you, finding what works for you.

I recently found a book by Dr. P. Slagle, The Way Up From Down. She discusses depression and anxiety. You can easily find this online. She has some great information as a starting point including some information on inositol. I have been searching for natural answers for more than 20 years and in the short time I have been following her protocol, I am finding some relief. It may still need tweaking, but I am definitely seeing improvement. Best of luck to you.
