I've not posted lately cause I am in the psychiatric hospital.
It's crap in here.
The only good thing you can say about it is that it's difficult to hurt myself in here.(I was brought in because of uncontrollable self harm)

I have wondered where you were bro. I'm sorry to hear you're not doing well but I hope you're on the mend. It's crap being in hospital but sometimes it's for our own best interests. It never ceases to amaze me that you're allowed contact to the outside world while on the ward in other parts of the world. Here you're not even allowed a music player or anything that could possibly be used to take photos or record audio. Also no pajamas with pull strings, shoe laces, belt loops, etc. Even the telephone there is 1 shared phone that is always occupied and can only be used for a few hours out of the day i.e. between therapy sessions. You can at least speak to your friends. We're hear to listen. :)

Hello Shaky!

I, too, was admitted to a psychiatric ward because of self harm. I was admitted last October when it was decided that I was a risk to myself.

It was a grim place to be, but I understand now why I had to be there. The one thing that pissed me off was their approach of 'medicate to vegetate'. I was encouraged to approach the staff to talk when I was feeling the urge to self harm. When I approached any member of staff I would be given lorazepam and sent to bed to chill out. Then when I would meet with the psychiatrist he would criticise me for relying on lorazepam too much.

I was in for over 6 weeks and I did not appreciate it at the time, but I do now. I wish I had found this place at that time.

I hope the food there is better than it was on the ward in Glasgow.

Hi shaky, hope you are managing ok on the ward. I’ve not been there myself but have heard many people’s stories, some better than others. I suppose uncontrollable self harm is as good a reason as any to end up there. Sending you best wishes!

I have been on ward more than once the food always sucks and in my area hospitals let you have contact with the outside world and some don’t. The general move seems to be towards allowing freedom of communication.

Amazingly, the doctors have allowed me to cme home for 1 night all on my own.
This is the real test. Can I remain safe and unhramed out in the real world.
