Hi there,

For a while now I've had a clinical diagnosis of severe MDD (major depressive disorder for those of you who don't know). A few months ago, my beautiful dog Rosie of 12 years passed away and it was gut-wrenching. Recently, my cat Jasper was taken to the vet and was found o have a lump in his ear which requires a £1300 scan to analyse and diagnose, and then another £1000 surgery to remove it, alongside all of the other incurred costs. If we choose not to pay, he may die.
All of this on top of the fact that i am currently in year 13 of school and i am doing really badly in my subjects, with an ever increasing level of pressure from all sides, it has taken its toll on my body and on my mind. I've been having some pretty nasty depressive/suicidal thoughts for prolonged periods over the past few weeks, and it has finally all become too much to bear, so i thought **** it, i'll post about it on the internet, it's apparently worth a try!
So if any of you can give me a reason to keep on kicking that isn't the usual "there is someone who loves you" or the "you'll get through this don't worry" please kindly reply here...

Thanks.

Hello, you are very young. I am not sure what kind of treatments you have pursued, but I urge you to try. You can find some medication, therapy, or combination of the two that can help you. It is much too early in your life to give up. MDD, makes everything appear so bleak to the sufferer, but it is possible to recover and feel better. Give it a try.

Wow Alexrow you have so much going on right now. I am sure it is hard for you to find a good place to take care of yourself. So sorry about your Rosie and Jasper. I have been through this myself. Our dog had heartworms almost incurable. We had no money. When this happened with our dog we called around and around to the Veterinarians and we found one that we could afford to help us. It was like 40 miles away and daily treatment. All turned out well. This sometimes happens to us we just have to do what we can do.

I have 4 dogs and I would go nuts if anything happened to them. We have one that is allergic to bees. Our yard is full of bees. Been the the vet over this one. Animals are expensive. Kids are expensive. You will find a way to make it through this. Just do not hurt yourself it is not your fault. I have had animals before that just did not make it. Very sad. I am a animal lover. So I can only imagine what you are going through. Lots of love and hugs No Fears No Worries. Jules

You're dealing with so much right now. It's enough to knock anybody sideways, so it's understandable that it is having such an impact on your depression.

The reason I can give you to keep going is that you are a strong person, facing all of this right now and you have reached out. That shows that you have a whole load of strength, because instead of giving up you are looking for ways to help you find your way through this. It takes an enormous amount of strength to do that!
Another reason, is that you deserve to get through this fog and feel some happiness. Dont allow this depression to rob you of that.
Stay strong and keep fighting it.
I believe you can do it.

Speak to your doctor to see if they can offer you some extra support. Maybe therapy would be helpful for you right now.

I am sorry for your loss of rosie, and I hope jasper is okay.

Are you serious? I’m livimg on the edge I don’t know what I’m going to eat today and didn’t eat yesterday and ur complaining over death that everything that’s living experiences?? I would say try ur best with ur cat but prepare for the worst. As far as school, some times it’s not a bad idea to take breaks and to go back.you always have options you can try ur best to get ur grades up or just take a break from school and go back when u feel ur ready.i also would suggest emailing ur teachers letting them know what’s going on ASAP. GOOD LUCK
