Keep calm, try not to google, and listen to the medics.

Google says that sepsis is life-threatening and I've seen it saying that many times. For every person I know who developed sepsis...every one of them is still alive - one is still a boxer.

I understand you are afraid for your loved one. But keep this in mind, the professionals know. They have advised what to look for. If sepsis is responded to quickly then they can mitigate the risks associated with it. The district nurse no doubt will be keeping an eye on the signs. I have a feeling you are both being vigilant. There is not much more you can do unfortunately. Try not to project into the future too much, bring it back to in the present otherwise you will distress yourself with the worst possible outcome then live them out in your head. Remind yourself that she seems to have an attentive health worker, that she has foreknowledge of what to look out for. Try and trust a bit in that and a bit in that she is likely just as invested in keeping an eye on it and will make the call if required. I hope things work out. Take care.

Hi Lu,
It's good the nurses will take swabs, it will show what sort of infection she has and what antibiotics she needs.
I'm so very sorry she's poorly, it must be such a worrying time for you.
Sometimes the right dressing will be able to heal the wound.
We're here for you.
Do send my love and best wishes.
Look for worsening redness around the wound and a high temperature or very low temperature.
Call for an ambulance or phone 111
If your worried at all call 111
Hugs

thanks so much
so she doesn't have sepsis right now but the nurse is concerned her leg is infected and as her blood pressure is low these are signs of becoming sepsis
on monday they are taking a swab and we will know if it is an infection
i know the nurse was being vigilant but i wish she had not mentioned sepsis until we even know if the leg is infected

she has previously had a deep vain thrombosis and cellulitis in both legs
im so worried as she is 92 in december
she is like a second mum to me

thanks so much for the support you are all so kind to take time to help me

i have calmed down slightly now
love Lu x
