Im gunna jump right into this one, a few of my friends and my mother seem to think i have am suffering from anorexia, i disagree.

I eat 1 meal a day, i ignore feeling hungry and sleep the days away, i am keen to stay skinny, i dont see it as a problem as such, im 17 years old... i realise i may be underweight and i feel the need to eat when i feel like. i do this to be incontroll of my weight and keep things stable..

goodness knows!
Hi Nate,

I don't know too much about Eating Disorders tbh, however, your GP is the person to approach first
to try and sort this out for you initially.

Have you had a browse through our ED forum?

If you are deliberately starving yourself to maintain a weight which will allow you to remain 'skinny',
I would also be concerned too.
Eating Disorder problems can be quite complex and counselling may be in order.

Let us know how you get on if you do approach your GP about this.

Good luck, qf.:)

The damage you are doing to your body is hidden from you, no one who is your height should be restricting their intake in the way you do. I am not a doctor, but yes, I think you have a problem and I think you need to see someone about it pretty damned quick.
You think you are controlling your weight? You are setting yourself up for Osteoporosis ( you won't have to wait till old age for this to happen) and are damaging your bone structure and internal organs. You are controlling yourself into an early grave. Is that what you want?
Why do you need to be skinny? We all know overweight is not good but normal weight is fine, and you are not a typical weight for your height. Stop faffing about and get some help. Today!

Hi hun I am anorexic and it was very very very hard to admit that. To me it seemed normal to eat less than my two year old. I justified it because I wasn't extreme anorexic, fainting all over the place or 5 stone etc, but it is still really bad for your physical and mental health to not be getting good nutrition.

So now I'm dealing with it. I only faced up to it when it was suggested I could take some meds to help, and I was like NOOOOOO so I'm trying to sort it out myself.

My approach (I've never really been a calorie counter and I'm not going to start now) is currently
-eat 3 meals a day
-try to make sure they are vaguely healthy and balanced, not crap out of the microwave
-try to make sure they are things I might like
-don't stress about how much of it I actually eat, just do my best and chuck the rest if necessary and try again next time.

good luck hope you get some support, I am in therapy btw I wouldnt have faced up to this otherwise

Hi Nate,

When I was active in my illness I would eat one meal a day as well. It's terrible for your body and metabolism. Plus, your body is still developing and growing. I hope you can find a therapist and/or a program that will help sort these behaviors and thoughts out for you.
