Hi, I started university about 3 months ago and became really close friends with a boy living opposite me. About a month into knowing each other he told me that he had depression and that he was taking medication for it. After this, I would try and keep asking him how he was and making sure he was okay. Recently he's had a bit of a rough patch; he won't engage in conversations, he doesn't go to lectures and he doesn't interact with any of our friends. I was really worried about him and kept asking if he was okay; he kept insisting he was, and when I asked if he wanted me to leave he said yes. I don't know what to do? I want to make sure he's alright, because I really care about him and don't think he should just be sitting on his own, but I don't want to seem to insistent if he doesn't want to talk about it? Can someone help?

hey, firstly you need to look after yourself here and don't take anything personal. He's ill and that makes us do strange things.

be there for him, offer an ear.. maybe try and buy him a coffee out if he's going out... just let him know your there..

all you can do, you sound liek a great friend.

keep us informed :)
