So basically, I encountered someone on a forum website, and it's like the guy's the smartest person in the world. He always knows how to present himself, he always knows his stuff, and he always wins debates. It's like he's the smartest person in the world. Ever since I looked at his posts, I've constantly been questioning every single thought I have, and am too scared to even have an opinion knowing that he may disagree with it. I get this constant feeling of "he's clearly much more smarter and experienced than me, so why even bother thinking for myself? Why even bother thinking differently than him knowing that his opinion may be the fairer one?"

This has been a constant internal struggle for about 3 months now, and I'm sick of it. I know this must sound incredibly pathetic, letting some random dude on the internet get to me like this, but I can't help feeling this way. I'm honestly scared that this issue will never get resolved, and I'll be stuck obsessing over this for the rest of my life. How can I get over this?

Have more confidence in yourself, and don't feel undermined or intimidated by others :)

There will always be someone that bit smarter, more personable, more attractive etc than you are, both in real life, and in terms of how they present online. But then, there will be those who are comparatively rather more bland and duff :)

It's all part of life's rich tapestry ;)
