how is it best to help someone with bipolar when they are going through a manic phase? xxxx
Hmm. Try to be patient and calm, even if they're overexcited. from my experiences being manic, I think everything is going great, that I have all the energy in the world, and that everything I do is amazing. I hate to say it, but sometimes it's useful to ignore most of the things we say and our behaviors, in the moment. That's not to say don't listen; just don't really react, pretend you don't notice maybe. Calling too much attention to it or focusing on it in the moment usually will make them feel put on the spot, then uncomfortable, then anxious and all that.

The important thing to know is that the manic phase never lasts forever, and once they cool down, you can both have a laugh about it, and maybe address some of the things that occured, if you felt uncomfortable or unsure of how to handle it.

So yeah, I think waiting it out is the best strategy; from my experience, I'm sure they'll be eager to listen and to improve themselves once they get back to their usual state of mind

my boyfriend may have bipolar 2 and is going through some personal issues right now
I want him to know how much he is loved and cared for but I don't feel like I am doing a good enough job which then stresses me
I need to be there for him
he will always come before me and he is the best person I know
how do I show him that? xxx
Important for him that you do not neglect yourself, my partner of twenty something years put me first for a long time and it nearly finished us, I'm 57 and have been manic depressive since I was well since I can remembe really, of course you love him and want to help and be supportive but you need to take care of yourself and that means that sometimes you need to put your needs in first place.
