Hi everyone,

Found this forum less than an hour ago after searching “about to start DBT scared” and a post from a member on here came up dealing with the same thing as me.

I’m 30 and have struggled with depression, anxiety and mood regulation since I was in elementary school. It all came to a head in late 2017-early 2018 when I had several nervous breakdowns and had to be hospitalized 4 times in as many months.

After a year of working with a psychiatrist and trying multiple medications for what was misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder, I’ve been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

There’s much more to the story, and in time I may speak more about my journey, but I’m happy to have found this forum. It’s encouraging to see a community of people who are struggling with mental health too. I’ve received many mixed signals from family and former close friends about my mental heath. I’m learning that I have to do what is best for my well-being.

I hope to exchange information/tips/experiences/encouragement on this board.

Thank you for reading
