Hi! I am new here. I have joined to learn how to support my husband, who might have anxiety issues. His major problem is the mobile. As soon as he spends too much time on it, his mood is greatly affected. He feels disappointed with himself because he didnt use the time wisely and was not productive. So he has now set days when he is not allowed to touch the mobile at all. Is this the right thing to do? Avoid it completely? Also, as soon as he is faced with a challenge he feels anxious. I guess its normal, but this will lead him to avoid the challenge altogether. So yesterday I wanted to put up the paddling pool for the kids and he was very anxious at the tought. I did it anyway, so he had to face it and was very upset the whole day. Also, made me upset as well because I font feel supported enough, i feel like I am always by myself facing problems, only because I am stronger mentally, doesnt mean I will never break. So I need help managing his fears and supporting my wellbeing. Thank you

Welcome! :grouphug:

It sounds like some intensive couples counseling might work well for you both. Is it something you have considered?

Welcome to the forum! It’s very nice that you want to support your husband. Have you tried suggesting him to subscribe to this forum. As a man, he might feel anonymity more inviting to share his daily struggles.

Anxiety is managable in various ways, but it has to start with him working on himself. Medication can sometimes help. Therapy. Support group. Group therapy (to learn how to cope with anxiety).

Let him know you’re struggling too. Try and come up with solutions together. Try and learn what his triggers are.

You’re right when you say that being strong doesn’t mean you’ll never break. That means you should try and find help for yourself too. You should be able to find support group for family members of patient with mental illness. No matter what you do, make sure you’re not the only one trying.

I hope you’ll both feel better soon.
