Thanks for allowing me to join.
By joining I hope I can support my daughter who has borderline personality disorder.
Also I hope in a small way I can offer support to others.

I love lavender. such a nice smell
So concerned right now
My daughter has had some changes in meds
Due to bad side effects
She's been really struggling
And then this morning after kicking off due to her dad not making her a cup of tea
She took off with some of her meds and said she would harm herself
We looked everywhere for her and called her mental health team
Advised rightly to contact police
As she is borderline behaviour disorder and has harmed herself previously
She ignored my calls and texts
Police did find her but she refused to come home and had also taken some meds
I've no idea how many
She refused to go to hospital to be checked
Therefore sectioned so they could get her checked
All I know now is that they are waiting with her in a&e
Then she will be assessed
They mentioned a 136 section I think
But everything so confusing
I know we can't see her at the moment
But she could end up anywhere tonight
They did say due to lock down etc
It was uncertain where they would take her
Could even be out of the area
So sad and scared for her
Any advice please
Thank you
I

Hi Lavendergirl

sounds like you're going through a really tough evening right now with your daughter being sectioned. She will probably be okay with the meds she took, she's in the best hands right now and I know it's tough because of lockdown and her potentially being taken out of the area but she really is in the best hands as I say. You'll get to see her soon I am sure.

Thinking of you and your family.

This has happened before
Last time it ended in a weeks hospital stay due to possible liver damage
She has been doing so well recently
Enjoying a new job
But since all this meds change
She has really struggled with her moods

Hi you are welcome on the kind words.

I understand, meds changes can alter moods and take time to adjust to. It sounds like she was very irritable. She just has an illness and needs some help with it, that's all. Hopefully the doctors and nurses will find the right meds for her and she will be able to move on with life.

I personally was in a really bad way for a long time and was sectioned age 19, but through a combination of meds and better thinking habits (supported by the meds and some therapy at times, as well as mental health interactive groups like football and pool) I have got a lot better, so I am proof that there is always hope.

Hi again
My daughter was taken to hospital under the mental health act
As she refused to go which was understandable.
She suffers flash backs due to last time she was hospitalised.
However she did require medical attention due to overdose
Since having a mental health assessment she is now back home with her family
Being supported by the local crisis team over the bank holiday weekend.
Her feelings are that this is the 3rd really bad incident over 3 years
Incidently the real crisis times always occur around this time of year
Due to a trauma in her life 3 years ago
Some thing in her mind always seems to trigger it.
It's heart breaking to watch her deteriorate so much
She feels this is now her life and certainly a life she doesn't want to be in.
I know meds can help but surely therepy is the best tool for bpd.
It's so difficult to get anything on a long term basis
Yes she has a psychiatrist who deals with meds.
He trys but to be honest he seems very inaffectual
She doesn't feel able to attend group sessions offered
Although she did try a couple of times
Also she was trying to hold a part time job down
And attending groups at certain times was difficult
Not even sure if she will be able to go back to work
Certainly not in the short term.
Unfortunately she didn't disclose her mh when she started this job
Mainly due to problems she has had in previous jobs on disclosing.
Has anyone with bpd tried to get dbt counselling
This I've been informed is often benificial?

It's impossible to get with the mental health team where we live.
Unless it's group based.
Maybe I can look for a private therapist
But I would feel wary unless someone was recommended.
Sorry to ramble.
I'm usually very concise but at the moment feel anything but.
I really feel she's not going to get through this for a 3rd year

Hi Lavender girl

I am really sorry things are so hard. Don't worry about not being concise. I think you're right that meds but more importantly therapy would help her a lot and are what she needs.

Hopefully she will be okay. Keep using this thread as a way to vent and get support.

Yeah it is. I wish I could be of more help but always here to listen and support.

Please just keep faith that things will work out, i know it's hard. That whole thing about being discriminated against in the workplace because of MH issues really sucks as well as you imply.
