From NE Florida. Been fighting with issues since I was a child and things have recently made a turn for the worse. Very sad about being broke and alone for the holidays. This will be the 8th holiday season I'll be alone. I have bad depression and agoraphobia that I control with anti depressants and beer, respectively. Thanks for letting me join and say this.

Hiya and welcome to the forum. I hope you find us supportive and helpful. I am sorry you are so low and alone. Have you nowhere to go for the holidays? I suppose its hard to leave the house if you are agoraphobic. Keep talking and we are here to listen.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Hi and welcome, we are happy to have you.
How has your day been?
I wish I could say good. It would have been a decent day since I'm not as depressed as yesterday. Since I'm having a severe gout attack in my ankle that started yesterday, I'm temporarily unable to walk or drive. If it's not one thing, it's another. That pretty much sums up my life, darn it. Thanks for asking.

How are you today?

Hi Glassy Lip, sorry that you're feeling sad at the moment. There may be some ways to not be alone over the holidays, activities you could join in on. Volunteering if you're up to it (they'd be others there who are alone over the holidays), you could find a local volunteer event at Eventbrite. Might work because this would cost you time and not money and would bring you into contact with others. Good luck

Hi Glassy Lip, have you ever tried to find an hobbie or a relaxing sport? I know it can be trivial but finding some time for yourself (even 15/30 minutes) might help you feel a little better. I tried meditation and yoga (at home, using some videos or app as reference) and even though it didn't solve the problem it helped me relaxing and emptying my mind for a short while. Hope you'll feel better

I used to have many hobbies. I still fish once in a while. Easiest way to be around others for me is to go to the pub and spend my very limited funds on food and brew. I know all the staff and the regulars so it's actually relaxing for a change.

I may volunteer at the animal shelter over Christmas. I love animals and worked there years ago. Last Christmas I had dinner with the homeless, it wasn't bad.

Thanks for the replies and ideas.

Welcome. I'm pretty new here too. Seems so many folks on this forum are very helpful and understanding. Do you fish this time of year? I'm in the northeast and we're expecting snow tonight - no fun. Hope you can enjoy your warmer weather in Florida.

I agree, people seem very nice here. I've only been here for five days or so.

Our high today and tommorrow is under 60, which is cold for us. Our low is 45. I do fish this time of year, it's great - no bugs, insane heat, sunburn... just hungry fish and cool, clean water.

You've only been in Florida for 5 days or so? Where were you before? Some of my best memories as a kid were fishing with my brothers and on my dad's boat. I was down in Florida earlier this year and went fishing one afternoon on a boat...didn't catch much but sure was beautiful.
