Hi I am Mapletree I am nearly 64. I have had long term mental health problem since childhood which were mostly caused by childhood trauma. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, eating disorder, OCD, agoraphobia, also have had symptoms of psychosis although not overwhelming hallucinations. In my twenties I spent a year as a resident in what was regarded as the worlds first experimental psychiatric unit. I feel as well life has been a long learning curve with all this and I feel I am on a new one with all the stuff I am finding in the internet. As well it is so good to hear many peoples lived experience of mental health. As a young adult in my twenties I started to put my educational problems and co ordination and thinking problems etc down to childhood trauma. However in my 30s I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia. As well how something can cover up something else. As time went on it became clear how one thing can make something else worse. I was told by a Professor of Dyspraxia how it is understandable how this can be so. Recently I have been discovering how much more common it is for people with learning difficulties to have mental health problems. It has been eye opening upsetting and touching. I feel I would like to join in the discussions talk and help and maybe learn even more. Love to you all.
