Hello I have been on here a little while but just wanted to say hi to anyone new, and anyone who suffers with complex ptsd or any trauma related issues, can we reach out to each other here?

Hope this okay in this section. Sending (hugs) to all, life’s challenging everyone with lockdown. Maybe we can lighten the load by sharing with each other.

Best wishes

I've never been formally diagnosed with C-PTSD, but I meet the criteria:

The diagnostic criteria for C-PTSD include:
  1. Experiencing anxiety-producing visual or emotional flashbacks, and vivid memories of trauma in response to triggering events
  2. Going to extreme lengths to avoid environments or situations that are believed likely to provoke flashbacks or unpleasant memories
  3. Chronic feelings of being unsafe or vulnerable to threats, even when external circumstances show no obvious signs of danger
  4. A pattern of participating in unstable, dysfunctional, and unsustainable relationships
  5. Negative self-concept defined by feelings of deep shame, guilt, and unworthiness
  6. Poor emotional control that leaves sufferers vulnerable to fits of rage and frustration and bouts or paralyzing anxiety
All six symptoms must be detected before a complex PTSD diagnosis can be made. Because C-PTSD is often complicated by depression, anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, and substance abuse (all common co-occurring conditions with C-PTSD), mental health professionals will screen for such conditions once the symptoms of complex PTSD have been identified.

That site says:
An individual recovering from complex PTSD faces a long, challenging road. But at the end of that road lies a future free from overwhelming anxiety and the terrible memories that accompany it.
I never have been able to get rid of the memories. Never will.

A big :hi: from me @wordypuzzler and also to @one light @Argon @irwin @NervuleNerds @UpnDwn1978 and @Zoe1

What a great attitude you have! I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you. :)

Cptsd is caused from prolonged and continuous traumatic situations forced upon someone using an unequal level of authority as a weapon/tool for compliance, (as with domestic violence, workplace abuse and/or child abuse) whereas ptsd is usually the result of a one off event such as an accident, being raped or witnessing a traumatic event.

Obviously it's not that simple, but these interpretations finally helped me understand my symptoms, behaviour and responses to people and situations, and especially when I was triggered by further trauma later in life which bought it all back.

Having a safe and anonymous platform (MH forums) to talk, support and learn has been my saving grace with recovery; I hope it is for you all too :peace:
