Hello and dreary Christmas

I‘m a young adult male and absolutely miserable at all times, made even worse by having to engage with family for Christmas period. I can’t sleep, I don’t have the will to do anything, the hallucinations, voices and nightmares won’t stop, and I’m so lonely and cold, I don’t have the financial means for therapy, nor for the medication that would likely be prescribed to me. I don’t know what to do, and don’t think anything can be done, but I want to try, so hello.

Do you not get free healthcare in Australia? And it is cold? I thought you were in a heatwave right now?

Wherever you are, being lonely and not well is not good but things can get better, we just have to figure out how.

Are you staying with family over Christmas? Are they not able to help you?

Mental healthcare is expensive, even with a plan from gp I was still looking at fees in several hundred dollars when I tried.

we’re not in a heatwave right now but I’m always cold, I have a place to stay, but I don’t like my family and want to avoid them when possible.

I'm sad that medical care is so expensive down under, I've found therapy (CBT) and medication to be very beneficial for me.

I'm a voice hearer myself and have had hallucinations and nightmares just like you.

Did you ever link the three together? I believe the voice I hear was responsible for my hallucinations and even had a hand in my dreams if that can be believed.

Once I started using medication for my voice (they lower the volume of it and make it much easier for me to cope with) the hallucinations stopped and so did the nightmares.

I don‘t Have any evidence to suggest they’re connected, other than being similar, they kind of all just happen. Since they’re similar I do imagine taking meds for one would probably help with the others, but I don’t know that.

Well I am also picking up on you saying you are always cold. Maybe you should ask for thyroid check as in a young male this can be quite problematic till it is sorted out. Just a thought.
