Hello

So where to start. In 2011 i was diagnosed with health anxiety and panic atttacks. I kicked its butt by end 2012.
But now sadly it's back and I am "enjoying" new onset of symptoms and freaking out as much as 8 years ago.
Last year in August my dad died and the whole experience was more then stresfull (bringing his body from another country, paying huge amount of money for the whole process and finally, me being the head of family, my young brother and disabled mum, huge pressure especially that they are back in Poland and I live here in the UK, trying to support them financially)
Since then I noticed that I am not putting in weight, I did work out but was eating lot of bad food.
But it all really kicked in this March. I got back from Poland from hiking in the mountains with injured knee, which got me real upset as I could not go gym, then week later I start having lower back problems, I then decide to go for another hike in the new forest as start to feel much better. After this time my knee was ok but back was in constant ache. I got really worried. But continued living on as normal, waiting for my appointment with physio.
I was cycling to work all was ok ish. Then I noticed my right side was tender in touch and then became to ache and I noticed 4 red spots. I had on going for some time, and after 2 weeks I went to doctor who said it might have been shingles (of course I start to rad more about it in Google and found horrible things which really freaked me out)
After that I thought I will go do blood tests and and check myself into sexual clinic for check up.
All was preatty normal until this point. I went in to the sexual clinic and start looking around then I noticed HIV poster on the wall and obviously I googled symptoms and got very scarred because shingles is caused by lower immune system, which HIV can cause. I then went inside to speak to the nurse and she asked if I want to get tested for HIV which really freaked me ou

Freaked me out
I then start to develo more like HIV symptoms, sweating at night, having caugh that now lasts 3 weeks, swallen lymph nodes under my left armpit and my latest one, lossing weight, I lost 1kg in under a week. I am terrified. I went to see my GP last week and he said its all stress and anxiety but he referredme for some checks this week, no blood test as I am on antibiotics for my caugh. Since the visit in sexual clinic I also start to have heart palpitations, nightmares, occasional constipation, dizzy spells, had two panic attacks. I keep looking up my symptoms and they all point at either HIV or C word. Can't enjoy life anymore and I think non stop about it all, always checking my body for new symptoms

Your blood test will tell you if you're HIV positive.

What is likely is that you are very anxious and that's the problem you need to address.

Stop googling symptoms, get right off the internet. You are not helping yourself.

If you have had unprotected sex, get a sexual health screening.

I had 7 sexual partners in last 10 years, whom I trusted as I knew those girls and been in a relationship with them. I was not sleeping around.

In that case, assuming safe sex, forget HIV. It`s fragile and cannot exist outside the body for any period of time.

Sex was unprotected. But I did trust those girls as I knew them, besides they were were healthy as they are now. Like I said it was not like one night stands and had only 7 over the 10 year period

Worried about HIV??!! Be glad you`re not a father! There are plenty of other STD`s on the market, unless you have access to their medical records, which you don`t , you have no idea!

Definitely stop googling symptoms and focus on getting help.

I know probably getting tested is the only way to put my mind at ease. But waiting for the results, thinking all the time am I the unlucky one. I am really scared 😔
Was just wandering if anxiety can cause weight loss, I know it does lower your immune system.

If you are not eating properly or enough , your may well lose weight.

Get the test, you`re only making yourself worse.

Anxiety can definitely cause weight loss.
Did you have the tests done or just thinking about having them?

I agree about stopping googling.
You will convince yourself you have lots of illnesses and
this will only make your anxiety worse.

I have now lost 4,5kg in 6 weeks. I was 91,5kg and now I am at 87kg (my anxiety shooting through the roof) last week I did not eat much for 3 days but then since Sunday I ate 2300 calories a day, made sure I eat regularly and still lost weight .....
I got GP appointment today in regards of blood test results, will see what she says
I hope it's all due to stress, whole of last month I have been freaking out and obsessing.
