Having thin skin, not handling Internet

I try to stay out of everyones way, and do my best to be resilient when comes to being on the recieving end of getting flak but its gotten to the point where I can't take it anymore. I posted a rant on a facebook group about a game, & got 3 backlash comments, one in paticular was super harsh. He said stuff like 'go play zelda or some pussy shit, l hate lames like you being allowed to speak your mind & take time out of your day to write this cry-baby post" Maybe I appeared condescending in my rant so ppl who read it took it personally, idk. The way it was worded was like he was analyzing what kind of person I am in real life. It was also demasculating. Because it was on facebook, the setting felt different and our profile pi c is shown so everyone has kind of an 'idea' of who everyone is, even if its inaccurate vs arguments in an anonymous forum with avatars instead of selfies. I don't care what anyone says, even a rude comment on the Internet can ruin someones day, so I don't believe in "welcome to the Internet" mentality. My mother says the same shit but she rants about arguments she has on Reddit all the time.
I sincerely try to let water roll of a ducks back but I have such thin skin it feels demoralizing when ignoring trolls doesn't work.

The gaming community has its own “special” kids. If they upset you, don’t interact with them. The bullying mentality of most gaming forums tend to be the norm, and one big game dev I know says most of these forums tend to attract “not the most stable” individuals.

Go enjoy the game and leave the forums alone. You’ll be much happier.

i would not go that far to say bullying its not liked you are getting beaten up on a daily basis you can just mute everyone in the game or make a new account if this is the same kids doing it to you

I had a premptive comment about the "welcome to the Internet" mentality because I knew someone would say this exact thing. Age doesn't matter as I already said "I don't care who you are, a rude reply can ruin your day".

not sure if it is this new age generation but something as simple as online harassment if you want to call it that the world is not a nice place people are dicks if you can't handle strangers spewing insults online real live will be a major problem people should not be dicks but they are that is life you cant change that

Yeah no shit, tell me something I don't know. 9x10 I ignore troll comments but in my case the last one I had was my breaking point, 'online harrasment' produces the same feelings that grown men & woman have during road rage. Its the same thing, except one is on the Internet & one is in a car. If I posted a rant about road rage you wouldn't be on an agenda to counter everything I say or other ppl who agreed with me. The whole baby boomer vs millenial logic posturing wears out because every generation experiences the same thing but in different forms.

gaming communities are toxic, even ones where the majority are adults, this is why I try not to get too invested in them
I've had a similar experience on a facebook group for a specific game where some guy that looked 40-50 years older than me started insulting me all because I had an opinion he disagreed with, I just laughed it off with a friend

i experienced online gaming the only difference is when someone got on my nerves if i couldnt take it i would have a break from it or turn it off this really is not a problem on the grand scheme of things you might need to get off 4chan with that baby boomer vs millennial agenda stuff that does not help
