Have you ever moved down a grade at work and been happier?

I have, but occasionally feel others may judge me for it.

I dropped quite a few pay grades in my last job a few years back. It was a really positive experience and learned a hell of a lot. I was happier for sure - but also unwell unfortunately.

I have and it was the best decision for me. I am now happier in a new role in a new department.

When I get myself "sorted" I will work on working my way back up but at the moment, I need to take care of my health more than anything else :)

Am I being too hard on myself for feeling as if I've lagged behind other colleagues who have been promoted/moved on?

I also feel others may judge me for having to move down.

Personally I would respect someone for this.

It's good to recognise boundaries and health is more important for sure...

I think you are being too hard on yourself, but we find being hard on ourselves all too easy.
Also it's a tough decision to make and again all respect for that...
