Ok, so it sounds funny, but for the year I've been on antipsychotic medication I've been terribly constipated. I've felt bloated and bound up for a whole year. I know it has been the antipsychotic medication as I eat in excess of 28grams of fibre a day (the recommended daily intake for a woman is between 21 - 24 grams), I drink 3 litres of water a day and run 5 times a week.

I've gradually been tapering my medication with the support of my GP and PDoc and for the last couple of days I've come off it altogether. And Wow!, I'm pooing again! It feels so damn good and so do I!
Yippee!

That must have been awful for you seriously  jokes aside glad you are feeling better. In case you ever feel like that again magnesium orotate is good for that and depression, so I read :scratcheshead:

Psylium husk fiber capsules or magnesium citrate solution are good for constipation if you have further difficulties. When I first started an a low carb diet I stupidly didn't increase my fiber intake and ate about 200 grams of protein in one day and couldn't go to the bathroom for a week. The psylium husk fiber tablets took care of that. Not to be nasty but I had never in my life seen anything like it. Whew! It was hell getting out. Lol. My trouble with constipation lately isn't drug related but rather alcohol related. So I have been eating bran flakes as a sort of maintenance.

It was Risperidal. It really was terrible and it still affected my bowels at 0.5mg daily. Last night was my third night off the drug and my stomach is so much better. It's flat again rather than distended and swollen.

Risperidone resolved my psychosis, and I doubt I would be alive today without it, but goodness there are some pretty debilitating side affects to the drug.

Yeah frequent or constant constipation sucks. I saw a Tv ad a few months ago for a prescription medication that deals with constipation due to opioid medication. Methadone, painlillers etc. I don't know if its approved for other uses or if its available in your country but it might be worth looking into if you need to resume taking resperidone to ward off the psychosis.

On any given day, someone on earth takes the best dump in the world for that day. Maybe yesterday it was you.
